I.Course Description:Algebra II with Trigonometry is a course designed to extend students’ knowledge of Algebra I with additional algebraic and trigonometric content. Algebra II with Trigonometry is required for all students pursuing the Alabama High School Diploma with Advanced Academic Endorsement. Prerequisites for this course are Algebra I and Geometry. If a student chooses to take the Algebraic Connections course, it must be taken prior to the Algebra II with Trigonometry course.II.Course Objectives:Students will have a mastery of the content standards for this course, so that they are able to succeed in higher-level mathematics. The use of appropriate technology is encouraged for numerical and graphical investigations that enhance analytical comprehension.III.Classroom Expectations:A. Classroom Rules and Procedures: Jet Core Values: Live to Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Resourceful. Pencils are preferred by ALL math teachers.Must show work to receive credit.All school rules in the student handbook will be enforced. This includes Dress Code, IPod, Cell Phone, and Tardy Policies. Students are responsible for arriving in class on time and prepared to learn with required notebooks, books, pencils, and assignments.Cell phones are not allowed for personal use during class time. If a student has a phone out without permission and has already been given a verbal warning about putting it away, then he/she will be asked to place it in the cell phone basket until the end of class.If you need help, please ask. I am available for tutoring during Refuel and after school most days. Please stop by and ask any questions you may have. B. Accommodations: Requests for accommodations for this course or any school event are welcomed from students and parents.C. Concerning laptop utilization:1. Student laptops should not be hard wired to the network or have print capabilities.2. Use of discs, flash drives, jump drives, or other USB devices will not be allowed on Madison City computers.3. Neither the teacher, nor the school is responsible for broken, stolen, or lost laptops. 4. Laptops and other electronic devices will be used at the individual discretion of the teacher. IV.Grading Policy:Test grades will account for 70% of the 9-weeks grade, with the remaining 30% being determined by quiz/daily grades. The grading scale is as follows: A (90-100), B (80-89), C (70-79), D (65-69), and F (below 65). Grades will be a reflection of mastery of the standards. Make sure all absences are excused as class work can be made up and graded for excused absences only. The Final Exam counts for 1/5 of final grade. V.Make-up Test Policy:*Missing the review prior to the test does not exempt a student from taking the test on the previously announced date. 1. Student will need to schedule make up test with Mrs. Brettel ASAP!2. Any assignment or test missed due to an unexcused absence will receive a zero. 3. Any student caught cheating will receive a zero. If homework is being copied both parties will be held responsible!4.
