Call for Applications – National Higher Educational Scholarship 2020/2021

Faculty of Science, Eötvös Loránd University

Students with outstanding academic and professional achievements – as a financial recognition of their accomplishments and with a view to supporting the preservation of their performance – shall be awarded the National Higher Education Scholarship for the 2020/2021 academic year by the minister in charge of education.

The National Higher Education Scholarship shall be awarded for a full academic year (10 months). Pursuant to paragraph (1) point c) of Article 114/D of ANHE (Act On National Higher Education), the scholarship’s monthly amount in 2020 shall be 40 000 HUF.

Under Article 10 (3) of the Government decree, the National Higher Education Scholarship awarded for the 2020/2021 academic year shall only be disbursed in the 2020/2021 academic year; in the event that the student’s student status is terminated or suspended, the student in question shall not be eligible to receive scholarship disbursements.

Applications for the National Higher Education Scholarship may be submitted by students taking part in statefunded and self-financed full-time Bachelor’s, Master’s and single-cycle programmes.

Application procedure:

The deadline for submitting the student applications for a National Higher Education Scholarship is 31 July 2020, 24:00 pm. Applications should be handed in through Neptun, via a request form. Applications after the deadline will be automatically rejected.

The request form will be available in Neptun in the Administration/Requests section under the name „National Higher Educational Scholarship 2020/2021” starting from June 15th 2020.

Applications must contain (as annexes to the filled Neptun request form):

• CV of the applicant

• Certificates and documents regarding the student’s achievements: applicants have to give each document a number which have to be listed in the document ’Annexes of the Application’ and listed with the same number on the Application Form. For the sake of clarity, each numbered document must only contain one achievement.

• Statement (only if the applicant won the Scholarship in a previous year)

Please bear in mind that it is not possible to submit additional documents after the deadline. The application should contain every document (including the language certificate) when it is handed in.

Eligible applicants:

Applications for the National Higher Education Scholarship may be submitted by students taking part in state funded and self-financed full-time Bachelor’s, Master’s and single-cycle programmes who have registered for at least two semesters over the course of either their present or past studies and have obtained at least 55 credits, and the Faculty of Science is their host Faculty.

Minimum requirements:

The minimum requirement to apply for the scholarship is for the student to have obtained at least 55 credits in their last two active semesters, as well as a 4,51 credit weighted grade average AND completed a minimum of 55 credits in two said semesters.

In the case of Bachelor level students finishing their studies and passing the final exam until 26 June 2020 and continuing their Master's studies at ELTE, the minimum requirement is a 4,51 credit weighted grade average in the last two active semesters and a minimum of 45 credits completed total in the same last two active semesters

In the case of single-cycle students finishing their studies and starting their teaching activity in the 2020/2021 academic year, the minimum requirement is a 4,51 credit weighted grade average in the last two active semesters and a minimum of 40 credits completed total in the same last two active semesters

Non-eligibility:

• Having two failed (1) grades in the last two active semesters that haven’t been retaken to obtain a better grade.

Other:

Please keep in mind that every one of the applicants’ grades have to be registered in Neptun until July 5 24:00h because the grade average will be calculated from the grades that are registered in Neptun up until that time.

By submitting an application, applicants accept that their semester will be closed by the above deadline, and it will no longer be possible to file a complaint about a grade, or register additional grades for that semester. (Except for summer field practices).

If the applicant won the National Higher Educational Scholarship in a previous year, only the achievements since the previous application are taken into account in the new application round.

No points will be awarded for any activity that was completed for credits.

A ranking is made by the Committee of Studies and Education considering he grade averages and credit points and the recommendations of the Institutes. If more than one applicant has the same score, a ranking is made by the guidelines in „II. Professional achievements”. If this results in the same points, further ranking is made by the guidelines detailed in „I. Studies”.

Appeal against the decision:

As established by the Vice Rector of Educational Affairs, the deadline for appeals against the decision should be submitted to the Directorate-General for Legal, Human Services and Public Procurement of Eötvös Loránd University by 24 September 2020, 14:00 PM. Appeals are accepted via email only at the hjb@kancellaria.elte.hu email address.
