HAVE SOMETHING DONE
Soggetto + have/has + oggetto + participio passato
Have something done corrisponde in italiano a far fare/farsi fare qualcosa da qualcuno; di solito si usa per parlare di una prestazione professionale, quando si organizza che qualcun altro faccia qualcosa per noi.
Esempio :
I had my hair cut yesterday
Ieri mi sono fatta tagliare i capelli
Si può usare con tutti i tempi verbali :
• Present simple: I often have my hair cut
Mi faccio tagliare I capelli spesso.
• Present continuous : He is having a tattoo done
Si sta facendo fare un tatuaggio.
• Past simple : He had his eyes tested
Si è fatto controllare la vista.
• Past continuous : I was having my ears pierced at 8 p.m.
Mi stavo facendo fare I buchi alle orecchie ieri sera alle 8.
• Present perfect: She has had her photo taken already
Si è già fatta fare la foto.
• Will : I will have my ears pierced
Mi faro fare I buchi alle orecchie.
• Going to: She is going to have her wedding dress made
Si farà fare il vestito da sposa.
Al present simple e al past simple alla forma interrogativa e negativa si usa l’ausiliare do/does o did.
Esempio: Do you often have your hair cut? Ti fai tagliare spesso I capelli?
He didn’t have his hair cut. Non si è fatto tagliare I capelli.
È possibile usare get al posto di have soprattutto quando si parla in un contesto più informale .
Esempio: I’m getting my portrait painted. mi faccio fare un ritratto.

MODAL VERBS : SHOULD AND OUGHT TO
Should: è un verbo modale; si usa per chiedere e dare consigli,corrisponde in italiano a dovrei,dovresti,dovrebbe,ecc.
La forma affermativa e negativa si formano:
soggetto + should-shouldn’t + forma base del verbo
Esempio: you should let go
Dovresti lasciar perdere.
La forma interrogativa si forma:
should + soggetto + forma base del verbo
Esempio: should I buy this pair of shoes ?
Dovrei compare questo paio di scarpe?
Ought to: questo verbo modale,a differenza di should, è più formale e viene usato per esprimere un’opinione su questioni legali e su doveri, mentre should è usato per esprimere opinioni personali.
Esempio: you ought to go to the police
Dovresti andare alla polizia.
Nelle forme negative,interrogative e nelle risposte brevi si usa should, mentre in quelle affermative si può usare ought to:
soggetto + ought to +forma base del verbo
• Per chiedere un consiglio di solito di usano queste due forme :
what should I do ? Che cosa dovrei fare?
What do you think I should do? Che cosa pensi che dovrei fare?
• Oltre a should e a ought to, si può usare:
you had better + forma base del verbo
corrisponde in italiano a faresti/ fareste meglio a .
• Altre strutture usate per dare consigli sono :
If I were you, I would + forma base del verbo (se fossi in te…)
