OFFICIAL SHOW BLURB

The international sensation - TAP DOGS - is back and ready to leave dents on stages all across North America. Created by Olivier Award-winning choreographer Dein Perry, with a construction site set by designer/director Nigel Triffitt, and a driving score by composer Andrew Wilkie, TAP DOGS is rough, tough, rocking theatrical entertainment. Winner of 11 International Awards, TAP DOGS premiered at the Sydney Theatre Festival, moved on to London and New York, and has been a howling success all across North America, Europe, Asia, America, and Australia.

TALKING POINTS

- The show started with six guys from a steel town north of Sydney, Australia. Creator Dein Perry, at age 17 and with no opportunities in sight for a dance career, earned his Union papers as an industrial machinist before moving to Sydney and trying to break into show business. He was eventually cast in the long running production of 42nd Street – and when it closed he took his experience and created TAP DOGS as a contemporary show built on the themes of his industrial experience and tap background.

- TAP DOGS premiered at the Sydney Theatre Festival in 1995. It has since played packed houses in London, all over Australia, South Africa, Italy, New York City and on tour around the world.

- The show played off-Broadway in NYC in 1997

- 1000 Tap Dogs from companies around the world performed as part of the Opening Ceremonies of the 2000 Olympic Summer Games in Sydney Australia

- The show is sort of Stomp meets Blue Man Group – its described as part theater, part rock concert, part construction site and part tap show. The dancers perform against all challenges - in water, upside-down and even jumping through scaffolding

- The story has gone on to be immortalized in the movie BOOTMEN, directed by Tap Dogs creator Dein Perry. The film was released in late 2000 and played in cinemas worldwide
