Dear Stratford Road Families,

At Stratford Road, we strive to help our students be the best they can be through our academic programs and character education lessons. Our amazing PTA and dedicated staff have been partnering with Birthday Wishes, an organization that provides birthday parties to homeless children throughout Long Island. This community project involves character education within the age-appropriate themes of generosity, kindness, community, empathy, family, and friendship.

This is our fifth Birthday Wishes event!! We will once again work as a school community to support this cause. April 10 will be Birthday Wishes Day at Stratford Road. This will be a bit different than in the past; our celebration will be during the school day with students and staff.

On April 10, every class will be involved in various ways to reinforce the ideas of kindness, giving, and the power of helping others by "bringing the magic of a birthday party" to so many children. We invite students to wear their pajamas to school (proper footwear of course!). Classes will be reading books, completing a school-wide project that will be displayed in our Hall of Kindness, and making goody bags.

Class parents and teachers will be working together to prepare a Birthday Box (for toddler- age children) that contains all the items needed for a party. Each completed box will include paper goods, decorations, goody bags, and juice boxes. We will also be collecting unwrapped birthday presents for children. These will be donated to Birthday Wishes.

We are currently accepting donations of the following items for making birthday party boxes: birthday wrapping paper goody bag items (in sets of 16)

We are also accepting new, unwrapped toys and items for a child's birthday present: toddlers (1-2 years-old) * cologne and deodorant gift sets, such as AXE (teen boys) * any other age gifts are appreciated as well

There are boxes in our lobby where the students can drop off their donations.

As always, we thank you for your continued generosity and support. We are a strong Stratford Road community and are proud to show our students how they can make a difference, help other children, and connect with our community at large
