I would throw mini concerts for my family of me singing and dancing to her old country songs. Taylor Swift’s country to pop transformation left everyone in shock. Her most famous country albums were’’Fearless’’ in 2008 and ‘’Red’’ in 2012. She changed her genre to pop in 2014, as well as she released her first full pop album in the same year. Taylor’s new album, ‘’Lover’’ has been recently been a big hit. Her new album is the seventh studio album by Taylor Swift. It was released on August 23, 2019, by ‘’Republic Records.’’ Swift is known for narrative songs about her personal life, which have received widespread media attention. Swift was born and raised in Pennsylvania. She moved to Nashville; Tennessee when she was 14 years old to pursue a career in country music. Her album Fearless became the bestselling album of 2009 in the US. The album won four Grammy awards and by then Taylor Swift became the youngest ‘performer of the year.’’ The tour in 2015 became Taylor’s highest grossing and most attended tour at the time. They mobilized 2,278,647 fans and it produced about $250 million. Taylor Swift has a long timeline of giving and generosity including in October 2018 Swift met a boy with autism to whom she donated $10,000 to purchase his service dog. Two years later she invited Jacob Hill and his family to RHG stadium and greeted them in person. 1170737452200BasketballAnnika AndersenBasketball is a sport played worldwide. There are many different types of leagues involving basketball, like, the WNBA, the NBA, and it’s even in the summer Olympics. Basketball is a game played with 10 players on the court (five v. five). There are four quarters each 6-8-minute intervals and after two quarters there is a half time break. There are many rules to the game, for example you cannot travel. Traveling is when you hold the ball and walk with it without dribbling at all, you have to be dribbling at all times, but you can take two steps after you stop dribbling and it won’t be called. Another main rule is that you cannot double dribble. Double dribbling is basically like traveling but you pick up the ball and stop dribbling then you start dribbling again. There are three different ways to make points in the game. You make a free throw shot if you get fouled, to be able to shoot foul shots, you have to get fouled. You can get fouled anywhere on the court (on the floor foul) and you can get fouled when you try and shoot (shooting foul). If you make a layupIf you make a jump shot/3-point shot. Basketball is a fun sport once you get the hang of all the rules and learn how to play. Inventor of Basketball()68244739Dr. James Naismith is known world-wide as the inventor of basketball. He was born in 1861 in Ramsay township, near Almonte, Ontario, Canada. The concept of basketball was born from Naismith's school days in the area where he played a simple child's game known as duck-on-a-rock outside his one-room schoolhouse. The game involved attempting to knock a "duck" off the top of a large rock by tossing another rock at it. Naismith went on to attend McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. After serving as McGill's Athletic Director, James Naismith moved on to the YMCA Training School in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA in 1891, where the sport of basketball was born. In Springfield, Naismith was faced with the problem of finding a sport that was suitable for play inside during the Massachusetts winter for the students at the School for Christian Workers. Naismith wanted to create a game of skill for the students instead of one that relied solely on strength. He needed a game that could be played indoors in a relatively small space. The first game was played with a soccer ball and two peach baskets used as goals. His Thirteen Rules of Basketball (1890’s):1. The ball may be thrown in any direction with one or both hands.2. The ball may be batted in any direction with one or both hands, but never with the fist.3. A player cannot run with the ball. The player must throw it from the spot on which he catches it, allowance to be made for a man running at good speed.4. The ball must be held in or between the hands. The arms or body must not be used for holding it.5. No shouldering, holding, pushing, striking or tripping in any way of an opponent. The first infringement of this rule by any person shall count as a foul; the second shall disqualify him until the next goal is made or, if there was evident intent to injure the person, for the whole of the game. No substitution shall be allowed.6. A foul is striking at the ball with the fist, violations of Rules 3 and 4 and such as described in Rule 5.7. If either side make three consecutive fouls it shall count as a goal for the opponents (consecutive means without the opponents in the meantime making a foul).8. Goal shall be made when the ball is thrown or batted from the ground into the basket and stays there, providing those defending the goal do not touch or disturb the goal. If the ball rests on the edge and the opponents move the basket, it shall count as a goal.9. When the ball goes out of bounds, it shall be thrown into the field and played by the first person touching it. In case of dispute the umpire shall throw it straight into the field. The thrower-in is allowed five seconds. If he holds it longer, it shall go to the opponent. If any side persists in delaying the game, the umpire shall call a foul on them.10. The umpire shall be judge of the men and shall note the fouls and notify the referee when three consecutive fouls have been made. He shall have the power to disqualify men according to Rule 5.11. The referee shall be the judge of the ball and decide when it is in play in bounds, to which side it belongs, and shall keep the time. He shall decide when a goal has been made and keep account of the goals with any other duties that are usually performed by a referee.12. The time shall be two 15-minute halves with five minutes' rest between.13. The side making the most goals in that time shall be declared the winners.IPhone 11Gabby Valdespino and Addison BoliekThe IPhone 11 is the newest of the IPhones. Starting at $699 — $300 less than the iPhone 11 Pro, which starts at $999 —?you might think?Apple?cut a lot of corners with the iPhone 11. When the new phone first came out everyone said that it looked bad and they only liked the colors. Now that the phone has been out for a little while, everyone likes the phone. 36581041Now that the phone has more than one camera lense, the quality is so much better than any of the other IPhones available. The other nice feature is the front camera that makes every thing clearer than before. Some people only get the new phone for the camera quality but the thing they don’t like about the phone is that it’s so expensive. When it first came out everyone was so surprised about how much the phone cost. Some people think that the phone is “definitely not worth the price” and others think it is worth buying. People don’t think its right to make a phone that expensive, other people say that the phone is so expensive because there are two different sizes you can get. The first size is the smaller phone size and the second size is the Pro Max, which is the larger version of the phone for the people that like the bigger phone. Apple is trying to make a phone that everyone will like. Shrove Tuesday - Pancake Day Madelyn Bell and Ava BridenthalShrove Tuesday or Pancake Day is always 47 days before Easter Sunday. Pancake Day is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. This year Pancake Day was on February 25th. It is celebrated because it was a day for using up food that could not be eaten during Lent, which was a time for fasting. Therefore, people made pancakes using leftover eggs and butter. Shrove Tuesday is celebrated in English-speaking countries like the UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada. In other countries like the USA, France, and others Fat Tuesday is celebrated on the same day. Historic UK states, “According to tradition, in 1445 a woman of Olney heard the church’s shriving bell while she was making pancakes and ran to the church in her apron, still clutching her frying pan. The Olney Pancake Race is now world famous.” Although Pancake Day has a historic meaning behind its name, take this day to enjoy your pancakes.Mrs. Huffman’s Favorite Pancake Recipe(Betty Crocker’s)Ingredients1 egg1 cup all-purpose flour 1 tablespoon sugar3 teaspoons baking powder? teaspoon salt? cup milk?2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butterStepsIn medium bowl, beat egg with wire whisk until fluffy. Stir in remaining ingredients just until flour is moistened (batter will be slightly lumpy); do not overmix or pancakes will be tough. For thinner pancakes, stir in additional 1 to 2 tablespoons milk.Heat griddle or skillet over medium-high heat (375°F). (To test griddle, sprinkle with a few drops of water. If bubbles jump around, heat is just right.) Brush with vegetable oil if necessary (or spray with cooking spray before heating). For each pancake, pour slightly less than 1/4 cup batter onto griddle. Cook 2 to 3 minutes or until bubbly on top and dry around edges. Today, he is thought of mainly as the jolly man in red who brings toys to good girls and boys on Christmas Eve, but his story stretches all the way back to the 3rd century, when Saint Nicholas walked the earth and became the patron saint of children.St. Nicholas made his first inroads into American popular culture towards the end of the 18th century. A short but sweet well directed play. Nobody expected the penguins to be captured and saved. Everything was very unordinary and that’s why the audience loved it. All of the weirdness and odd events brought the play together.Period 2- The Mean Carolers was a very modern play. The things that went down with the carolers is a very realistic situation. All the actors were very in character and fit the roles well. The play was very funny, it made the audience laugh and had them waiting to see what the carolers did next.Period 3- How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a classic. This play had it all, it was funny, attention grabbing and sweet. A perfect cast that were enthusiastic and ready to act. The audience was cultivated and excited. As the Grinch stole Christmas the audience believed that Christmas was gone.Period 5- The 12 Days of Winter Break, a fun twist on The Twelve Days of Christmas gone modern. From VSCO girls to fried chicken it had everything. A creative twist on the original. The very modern twist had the audience super intrigued about what was to come next. Gingerbread houses were set on fire, weaves were pulled, and someone got a broken heart.Period 6- When Good Christmas Recitals Go Bad, a play in a play! These actors were full of emotion and excited to act. Well portrayed characters and great props. Enthusiasm was oozing off the stage. The audience was so concentrated on the play that they didn’t know what was going on around them. This play was a good way to end the night.Vietnamese on HolidaysIvy HuynhUsually when one think of a Thanksgiving or Christmas celebration, it would most likely be a scenery where the dinner table is filled with wonderful homemade feast such as a roasted stuffed turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie or some sort and much more delicious food. They may also decorate the interior of their house with festive décor like a lovely pine tree with shiny Christmas ornaments and lightings but Asian influences in Thanksgivings and Christmas may change how a person’s usual depiction of a normal mid-autumn holiday may seem like. Autumn is all known as Tet year for the Vietnamese. It is where we celebrate our birthdays, Thanksgiving and even Christmas all at once. Think of it as a mid-autumn festival. Speaking of festivals, there are some autumn festivals held by the Vietnamese people located in temples or shrines. They mostly put up a traditional lion dance with drumming in the background as hundreds of firecrackers pop. The performers in the lion costume would go up to the crowd with their mouths open and sometimes the people would let them ‘eat’ the money, it’s quite famous among younger audiences.Another difference is the food. Coming from a Vietnamese household, we may have similarities like mashed potatoes and some sort of pie but we also have our own food like Pho, fried egg rolls and spring rolls or even a Vietnamese styles roasted turkey, or duck. Throughout many holidays over the course of years, my family either has a hot pot night, Pho, or the fried sticky rice rolls surrounded by sliced of Chinese sausages around the roasted Turkey or duck. My mother would also make her homemade apple pie, or my favorite, strawberry pie. Then comes the decorations we may have, sadly, some Asian families may decorate their houses if they strongly love festive holidays or if they’re religious but most of my family don’t think about decorating, especially my dad and my siblings because we’re mostly atheist or non-religious. We don’t decorate our house just for a holidays and clean it all up once it ends. We don’t celebrate national holidays because we’re religious, which most of us aren’t except for my grandmother but we celebrate them in order to spend family time and have fun. (And also the food.)Hispanic Christmas Day2132965288693O. Ramirez-HernandezMost Hispanics have a traditional celebration called ‘posadas’. For the posadas, the outside of houses are decorated with evergreens, moss and paper lanterns. In each posada, people are given candles and a paper of the songs they would be singing. The song they sing is about Joseph and Mary asking for a room in a house, but the children are told that there is no room in the house and that they must go away. Eventually they are told there is room and are welcomed in, when the children go into the house they say prayers of thanks and then they have a party with food, games and fireworks. When we finish with our prayers of Joseph and Mary, we begin the party and we start off by eating. Food is something that brings people together in joy and harmony, especially around this holiday. The regular traditional foods we eat are tamales. Tamales are enjoyed year round in Latin America, but the making and serving them around Christmas time and Mexican Posadas hold a special meaning. In addition, we also eat pozole it is mostly traditionally made with beets and lettuce but it can also contain other bright fruits like apples, oranges, or even pineapples. There are plenty of things you’ll be eating on posadas that would rank up there with the lightest of foods.-1714502540Then, right after eating we will start with the pi?ata and cutting a cake. A pi?ata is a decorated clay or papier-m?ché jar filled with sweets and hung from the ceiling or tree branch. Children are blind-folded and take turns to hit the pi?ata with a stick until it splits open and the sweets pour out, then the children rush to pick up as many sweets as they can! Right after the pi?ata, we cut the cake and everyone gets to keep partying and eat cake.Naples ZooDevyn Waite Pedro Ramirez-18097537020500There is a lot of fun things to do in Naples, Florida, but nothing quite compares to the iconic Naples Zoo by Coastland Center. A perfect place for sightseeing and it has a lot of things that normal zoos have, like animals and random vending machines filled with soda that’ll hydrate you on a typical 105-degree-afternoon. There are animals there like monkeys, anteaters, camels, zebras, giraffes, tigers, lions and lemurs. Not to mention the zoo is free on the first Saturday of the month for Collier County residents (everyone else, though, has to pay the $10 and deal with it).The primate expedition cruise, a cruise that takes you around the zoo and allows you to see various monkeys and primates, is quite possibly the largest attraction at the Naples Zoo. Personally I like it a lot, looking around to see what the primates are up to. Every view is unique and that’s what makes this ride so special. Just like those (much more exciting) rollercoasters at Disneyland, there’s a very, very long wait for this “cruise”, but it’s kind of worth it. Just remember to get to the zoo very, very early in order to avoid a three-week waiting line (if you do have to wait, though, you can get (overpriced and probably melted) ice cream to keep your cool). When on the boat, you get to travel all around the zoo without having to actually exercise – fun!The zoo also has plenty of other attractions, too! There is always something to do in the zoo and things to keep children occupied if you want to watch by yourself. There’s a playground for little children so they can let their energy out there and not annoy you, an expensive gift shop so you can remember your experience at this iconic zoo, and a café (which I think has a Subway in it) so you can get food when hungry. The Naples Zoo is one of Naples’ most amazing places, and you should check it out as soon as possible. It’s a ton of fun to visit and it’s a great way to spend the day. Its personally one of my favorite places here in Naples and an amazing sightseeing adventure.6181725000How to Game All Night Josue QuirosIts winter break and you want to spend your night gaming with your friends on whatever platform you have, but you don’t know how to stay up all night and have a very good sleep the next morning.
