Leveling the Playing Field For Advertising and Marketing Recognition

The Summit Creative Award honors creative companies with billings under $30 million.

Portland, Ore. / Denver, Col. - The Summit Creative Award recognizes the work of companies worldwide with limited billings. These groups, often overshadowed in national and international competitions, are given an opportunity to earn recognition by the Summit International Award’s (Summit Award’s) annual Summit Creative Award. The Summit Awards program was launched in 1994 to reinforce the importance of these agencies and their influence on the industry, the international economy and our everyday culture.

"Each year, smaller advertising agencies and creative boutiques contribute more than $2 trillion to our economy creating everything from a prime-time TV spots to benches at local bus stops." said Jocelyn Luciano, Principal/Managing Director of the Summit Awards. "A great deal of excellent work goes largely unrecognized by other award programs which can be dominated by large firms and their clients’ budgets. Our goal is recognize and reward these smaller shops for their contribution to the industry and the marketplace."

This last year, the 2020 Summit Creative Award competition drew more than 4,100 submissions representing 27 countries from five continents. Winners were selected in categories including: advertising, website marketing, emerging media, collateral, direct mail, public service and social media.

Over the last 26 years, the competition has established itself as one of the premier arbiters of creative excellence. Using rigorous evaluative criteria and top international judges, this unique competition rewards those firms truly deserving of special recognition. Submissions are evaluated based on the strength of their big idea, the quality of execution and their ability to persuade. A panel of vetted advertising professionals critique entries in 18 major categories. Winning entries receive a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Best of Show award.

Summit Creative Award judges come from both large and small companies, and universities including: Cossette; Promoseven McCann Relationship Marketing; New York University, BBK; Wieden & Kennedy; Faja Familjen Pangea Advertising, The Art Institute, Turner Studios; Grey Group; OneMethod; TBWA; HUSH; GolinHarris; Turner Studios; Ogilvy; and Saatchi & Saatchi.

“Creativity online has come full circle. It has gone through various stages of technology, bandwidth issues, target dynamics and is settling down to getting the job done effectively and beautifully.” Said Tom Roy, Executive Director, Innovations and Corporate Communications, for the Middle East Communication Networks one of the website judges. “The Summit Awards are recognition of creativity that delivers to the task. That reaches the target audience effectively, clearly – and with creative panache. That’s why to be judged a winner, creative – online or off – needs to be clear, precise, compelling and outstanding.”

The Summit Awards is committed to helping winners make the most of their success and to help raise the quality of creative communications worldwide. Each year, the Summit Creative Award announces and promotes its winners through social media, wire services and its highly-trafficked website.

Additionally, the Summit Awards is the only recognition organization that offers winners their own Summit-hosted, user-controlled interactive microsite. These microsites are rich with features including portfolio linking, image gallery hosting and a built-in editor for easy control and updating. They have proven to be a successful promotional tool receiving thousands of organic visits. The back-end is robust with a meta spider that generates and manages meta tags helping profiles rise to the top of search engines. Additionally, winners’ profiles benefit from the volume of traffic the Summit Awards’ site receives.

Helpful publicity tools, including press release templates, icons and graphics, and examples of winners press are available at . Plus, the Summit Awards makes winning creative examples available to university marketing, advertising and communications departments for use as discussion examples.
