EIMA AgriMach 2011: What’s on the Schedule

A road show of top agricultural and equipment officials to three Indian cities described attractions to be expected at the EIMA AgriMach 2011 industrial fair in New Delhi this December.

Post-harvest agro-industrial processing, farm-related energy production and a competition for the top technological innovation were among the top attractions listed for EIMA AgriMach India 2011 when its second edition is on stage in New Delhi on December 8-10.

This was the message during a three-stop road show to announce the event, India’s most important for agricultural and agro-industrial equipment, in Chandigarh, capital of Punjab and Haryana, India’s ‘bread basket’ states; in Chennai in the southern state of Tamil Nadu; and in Pune, in Maharastra, where the major agricultural equipment makers are located.

The fair is seen as making an important contribution to economic strategy in which increasing and improving agricultural production must play a key role in economic and population growth.

The road show was organised by UNACOMA Service from Italy and India’s Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry with the Indian Ministry for Agriculture, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, and AMMA, the Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers’ Association.

UNACOMA’s delegation was led by UNACOMA Service Managing-Director Guglielmo Gandino, while the FICCI was represented by Senior Assistant Director Jasmeet Singh, flanked by officials from AMMA.

The Italian delegation also included Raffaele Timpano from the internationalisation office of the regional government of Emilia Romagna in central Italy where a large number of Italian equipment makers are located. Emilia Romagna will have an exhibit for small and medium Italian enterprises at the fair, where the main sponsor is John Deere, represented on the road show by Vice President N.S. Ghuman, General Manager for Marketing Mahesh Boolchandani and Senior General Manager for Sales & Marketing Mukul Varshney.

The event in Chandigarh was attended by the Punjab government’s director of agriculture Balwinder Singh Sidhu. The session was attended by about 200 manufacturers, distributors, importers and agricultural sector operators.

Despite the world economic crisis, the first edition of EIMA AgriMach in 2009 attracted over 200 exhibitors and about 20,000 visitors. The second edition is expected to do significantly better. To date, the Indian states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharastra, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Jharkhand and Assam have confirmed their participation, flanked by exhibitors from Italy, the US, Brazil, China, Japan, South Korea, Spain and Turkey.
