Go to the home page of
If a first time user, you must create an account. Ask your teacher if they or the county has already created an account for you. If so, use that log in information. Once you log in with the teacher or county created information, you will be able to change your password. Make sure you make it something that is professional and something that you will remember year after year. For example: our students all use their passwords from the county network log in for their Gacollege411 password. That way they will remember it each year.
If you are not a first time user of , then you are to sign into your account with your account name and password.
Now go to “Career Planning” at the top of the screen, then to “Learn About Yourself”
Click on “Basic Skills Survey”
If you have completed this assessment in the past it will state “You previously completed the basic skills survey on ______ date”
You are to click on the get started button and after you have completed your assessment compare your answers to your previous session.
You are to select the activities that you CAN do or are able to complete or do now not in the future.
Review the example at the top of each of the ten basic skills:
This is the example for the reading comprehension: “How well you understand written sentences and paragraphs. Examples of the skill levels: Low: Reading step-by-step instructions for filling out a form or application; Medium: Reading a memo from your manager describing a new office policy; High: Reading a scientific journal describing a medical procedure.”
Most of you would have to stop at the first item of step by step instructions since you are not able to read and understand new office policies nor would you be able to read a scientific journal with complete understanding.

Mathematics
Science
Critical Thinking
Active Learner
Learning Strategies
Monitoring
You are to save your results to your portfolio.
You are to write your list of basic skills along with each of their number scores into your career notebook. You are then to look up the careers that match your basic skills and make a list of five of those careers that you might want to know more about in the future.
