You may alternatively present your ideas in one show (a “pilot” episode”).PRODUCT, PERFORMANCE, AND PURPOSE: The product is a multimedia presentation explaining your proposed TV show. Performance is based on how you include all tested elements within your presentation. The purpose is to determine your knowledge and understandings regarding crimes against people.STANDARDS AND CRITERIA FOR SUCCESS: Please review the attached rubric for a detailed explanation of the standards and criteria for success.28513150NMPAKeeping it real!Fellow television producers:The National Media Production Association is holding its annual meeting in Virginia Beach. As part of their convention, the NMPA is allowing producers to “pitch” their television proposals. Because of the lack of good new television shows based on criminal law, NMPA created a special “Pitch Pit” for production companies who want to present their idea for a Criminal Law style series. NMPA will allow multimedia submissions of up to five minutes to “pitch” their show ideas to a panel of executives from the major television and cable networks.Please submit by [December 9, 2014 (A Day)/ December 10, 2014 (B Day)] your multimedia presentation (PowerPoint, Weebly, or other easily accessible media format) for a syndicated television show focusing on crimes against people. You may present either:A synopsis of the first season of your show addressing all issues set forth below, or One show (a “pilot” episode) that addresses all of the issues set forth below.As we expect multiple submissions you must follow these guidelines:We must be able to view your pitch in five minutes or less (with minor variations),You can pitch any type of show (drama, comedy, reality, cartoon, etc), but the show must:Examine legal classifications of homicide (CLP.2.1)Describe the difference between criminal assault and criminal battery (CLP.2.2)Describe laws prohibiting robbery (CLP.2.3)Describe laws prohibiting abduction and kidnapping (CLP.2.4)Describe laws prohibiting genocide (CLP.2.5), andAnalyze the differences between domestic terrorism and attacks by foreign nationals (CLP.2.6).Your show also may not exceed the “PG TV” guidelines set forth by the industry, i.e., “This program contains material that parents may find unsuitable for younger children. Many parents may want to watch it with their younger children. The theme itself may call for parental guidance and/or the program may contain one or more of the following: some suggestive dialogue, infrequent coarse language, some sexual situations, or moderate violence.” In other words, make sure you can comfortably show your proposal to me, your principal and your parents as we all sit in the principal’s office, andYou may not actually break any criminal laws in completing this presentation (sorry, but “Cops” is already in syndication). ................
