SACRAMENTO ASGA - Singles Golf

SACRAMENTO ASGA “MONTEREY PENINSULA

INVITATIONAL” OCTOBER 27-29, 2016

Sacramento Chapter of ASGA is having its annual golf outing this year on the Monterey Peninsula. This area has been labeled by some of the golf magazines as the nation’s foremost golf destination. That of course is because here lies Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and Spanish Bay, all in Pebble Beach and ranked in the top twenty public access courses in the country. Of course the public has access, but it has its price. We have picked three courses that all carry at least a four star rating and will provide those who wish to partake, a great weekend of golf, comradery, and a lot of fun. In addition, the months of September through November feature the best weather in this area of California.

The dates will be Thursday, Friday, and Saturday October 27th through 29th and it will be held at Laguna Seca, Nicklaus Club-Monterey and Pacific Grove Golf Courses. These are all within the greater Monterey area. The primary package will include Friday and Saturday golf and a barbeque prior to golf on Friday and a dinner on Saturday evening. Play will begin on both Thursday and Friday near the noon hour allowing people to arrive the morning of play. Saturday play will also begin at 10:30 AM, allowing a vacation type sleep in or have a nice breakfast. The cost for the package of two rounds of golf and two meals is $315, with the optional round at Laguna Seca $79. DEADLINE for registration and payment: September 23rd.

LAGUNA SECA (0ptional-Thursday, Oct 27th)

Laguna Seca (above) was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr, and Robert Trent Jones Sr. and is located just east of Monterey near the famous Laguna Seca Raceway. The father-son duo carved out a course that follows the natural terrain of the oak-studded coastal hills along the Monterey-Salinas corridor. It has a large natural grass practice facility, a resort quality golf shop and a great bar. This is a lush course that is always in excellent condition.

NICKLAUS CLUB-Monterey (Friday, Oct. 28th)

Nicklaus Club-Monterey originally opened as Pasadera County Club and is a private members only facility. It is located near Laguna Seca and has rolling topography. We were able to work a deal with the membership to allow us to play their club as part of our weekend outing. This is the only Jack Nicklaus Signature Course on the Monterey Peninsula. It is a fantastic course and we are very lucky to get to play it as part of our outing.

PACIFIC GROVE GOLF LINKS (Saturday, Oct 29th)

Pacific Grove Golf Links has been called the area’s best kept secret but recent publications have destroyed that idea as it has been placed in two of the Top 100 ratings for public courses. This course starts inland through the park like setting with rolling topography and then the back nine features golf on the dunes. The entire back nine overlooks the Pacific and plays around the iconic Point Pinos Lighthouse, one of the area’s historical landmarks. All of us who have played Pacific Grove in the past, always recommend it to friends visiting this area. Some call it the “Poor Man’s Pebble or Spyglass” depending on how you compare courses.

MEALS

There will be two meals included in the package. The first will be a before noon barbeque at the Nicklaus Club prior to our shotgun start which is at 12:30. So you will want to get to the club early to enjoy the food prior to all of us teeing off.

The second meal in the package will be on Saturday evening at one of Monterey’s

finest restaurants, Scales, located on the Monterey Fisherman’s Wharf. No visit to the Monterey area is complete without a meal on the very famous wharf and have a view overlooking Monterey Bay.

LODGING

We have an agreement with the Hyatt Regency-Monterey for a courtesy block of rooms for Friday and Saturday nights, plus additional rooms for Tuesday and Wednesday nights for those who wish to come early. You will make your own reservations through a link that you can receive from us when you make your golf reservations. We do not want anyone making room reservations that are not committed to playing in the event as the rooms as well as the golf is limited.
