Welcome to seventh grade. Since you are now a professional junior high student, seventh grade should be an easy transition. What you can expect in seventh grade:

• More rigorous load

• More responsibility

• More privileges

Auburn Community District #10 Grading Scale:

A 100-93%

B 92-85%

C 84-77%

D 76-69%

F 68 -0%

Grades will be comprised of the following: projects, test and quizzes, homework, classwork, completion of assignment/projects and participation. All test scores will be doubled or counted twice.

****Late Work Policy****

Late homework will be penalized accordingly:

1. One day late – 10% deduction

2. Two days late – 20% deduction

3. Three days late – 30% deduction (Homework will not be accepted after three days and the grade will result in a zero.)

***If students have an excused absence they will have one day for each day they were absent to complete their work for full credit.

No Name Papers: Papers with no names on them will receive a 10% deduction. It takes a great deal of time to figure out which “no name” paper belongs to which student and this depletes academic time from other students.

Special point of interest: This class follows the guidelines outlined in the Auburn Junior High School Student Handbook.

Class Procedures

Entering the classroom:

Students should enter the classroom in a courteous manner, sit down quietly, read the directions on the Smart Board and promptly start completing the requirements.

Things to bring to class:

Students should bring their completed homework, literature textbook, composition book, English binder, pencils, paper, and other materials needed for that day.

Getting started:

When you enter the room, you should sharpen pencils; turn in any homework or makeup work. Literature students will need to have a book out and reading once homework is turned in and grammar/composition students will started on bell work. Every student should be working when the bell rings. All homework, makeup work, and extra credit should be turned in to the appropriate tray. Each tray is labeled for you.

Makeup work:

If you were absent, check the bulletin board for your class for the day that you missed or check my website to see what homework you missed. Write down the assignment, complete the absentee form in my classroom, and return it to me. When you turn in makeup work, write absent at the top and turn it in to the appropriate tray. If students have an excused absence they will have one day for each day they were absent to complete their work for full credit. If you need further clarification, please see me before or after class. If you have an unexcused absence you will receive a zero on work for the day that you were unexcused.

Homework:

Homework should be turned in at the appropriate file when you enter the classroom. If you do not have your homework, please retrieve a "Missing Assignment Form” from the file. Fill out the form and give it to me. Then you will need to fill out the “Missing Assignment List” in your binder. Once you have completed your assignment you will need to have me initial it under the completed section. Homework cannot be made up without the complete “Missing Assignment Form” and it will result in a zero. Late homework will be penalized ten points for one day late, twenty points for two days late, thirty points for three days late. No homework will be accepted after three days of it being late and you will receive a zero.

Class Dismissal:

The bell is an alert for teachers, not for students. The bell does not dismiss you, I do. When the bell rings, stay seated for any further instructions and wait until I dismiss you.

Discipline Plan for Mrs. Hemberger’s 7th Grade Classes 

Classroom Rules and Expectations:

1. Immediately follow directions

2. Come to class prepared

3. Tell the truth

4. Bring something to read to class EACH day!

5. Raise your hand to speak or leave your seat

6. Keep your hands, feet, and negative comments to yourself

7. Finished all assigned work and turn it in on time

8. Respect others including other students and teachers and others’ items

9. Try your best at all times and make our classroom a positive place to learn

10. Smile!!

Possible Consequences - If you choose to break a rule may include:

1. Verbal warning

2. Behavior contract

3. Lunch detention

4. Conference with parent/guardian

5. Conference with student

6. After school detention

7. Office referral

Severe disruption: immediate office referral

Individual Rewards

1. Praise

2. Possible extra credit/ Thumbs Up points

3. Positive Notes/ Calls home/ Email
