Problem Set 5

Using the enclosed handout ‘Trimble Geomatics Office Data Processing’ and instructions given to you in class use the Trimble Geomatics Office (TGO) software to process the GPS data collected this week.

STATIC MODE:

1. Use the static data set collected with Topcon Javad Legacy receiver at base station (“Base”) with RINEX files: 2629062u.06O and 2629062u.06N, and Topcon Javad Legacy receiver at rover station (“Rover-1”) with RINEX files: 2739062u.06O and 2739062u.06N. The antenna heights are: 1.80 m to the bottom of the antenna mount at the “Base” and 1.41 m to the bottom of the antenna mount at the “Rover-1”. The antenna types are Topcon Geodetic 3 Rev. D for both “Base” and “Rover-1”.

2. Use the differential processing mode: select the “fixed” (performing a fixed integers solution) for your data processing; save your results. Now, select the “code” (performing a code solution only) solution for your data processing and save the results. Explain the differences between “fixed” and “code” modes.

➢ After the data processing has been completed, create a full Project Report including plots of residuals, satellite tracking summary at stations and single-differenced summary etc.

➢ Enclose the printout of the Report for the solution types that you performed (L1-fixed and code). Discuss your results.

3. Perform the coordinate conversion between the SPSC 1983 (N/E/H/h), which is your primary output reference system, with WGS 84 (lat/lon/h) solution for the L1-fixed solution and save it in your local directory. Here are the steps:

➢ Press Select All in Geomatics Office

➢ Press File/Export and then choose Custom tag.

➢ Select Name/Latitude/Longitude/Height (WGS84 decimal degrees)

➢ Give the export file name and press save. These exported files can be found in Export sub directory in your project directory.

➢ Provide printouts of your results.
