SOCIOLOGY RESEARCH PROJECT PROPOSAL

SOCIOLOGY RESEARCH PROJECT PROPOSAL

PART 1

Sociology research covers a range of topics. Most sociologists are concerned with structure and function of groups as well as cause and effect. Specifically sociologists focus on rates of behaviors, how and why features change overtime, or stay the same.

Your task will be to follow and implement the Research Process on the topic of your choosing. Because this is a research project proposal, it should not be in essay form. It should appear in labeled sections. This project will be typed, double spaced, 12 font with appropriate APA citations.

Defining the Problem (1/2 page):

Select a topic of study that interests you. Define and describe the problem using terms and concepts that can be measured. This should be 1-2 paragraphs.

Reviewing the literature (1-2 pages):

Research and review at least two pieces of literature regarding your topic. Write a brief summary of the literature, the findings, and how it supports, or refutes your topic.

Form a Hypothesis (1/2 page):

Create a testable hypothesis. Your hypothesis must consist of independent and dependent variables. A description and explanation of the variables you chose should also be included.

Choose a Research Design (1-2 pages):

Devise and create a plan for collecting, analyzing, and evaluating your data. This is where you describe your plan for researching your hypothesis. What methods are you using to collect data and what forms of statistical analysis will you use to evaluate your data? Attach any data collection documents (templates) you will be using. This is where you take time to explain your plan.

Due Date: (tentative)

Collecting the Data:

Your data should be recorded and included here in an appropriate format.

Analyze Data:
