Portfolio #2 – Joint Injuries Assignment

Students will present information researched on specific topics listed below. A brief presentation will be accompanied by a 1 page (front and back) information sheet highlighting the research completed for the selected topics.

Choose from one of the injuries/topics listed below (or see your teacher to approve a different injury):

1. Create a model of the anatomical joint & sport injury to present to your class:

▪ Include all ligament, tendons, bones, and surrounding features of your joint

▪ Label all pertinent landmarks/features of your joint injury

▪ Ensure your joint injury is clear, visible, and realistic for your audience

***If possible – show the BEFORE/AFTER of your injury through your model***

2. Provide a detailed (max) 1-page front-and-back report of your chosen sport injury. Be sure to include the following:

▪ Risk factors of injury (sport-specific, athlete specific, age-specific)

▪ Signs and symptoms of injury

▪ Common occurances of your injury (what actually happens to the joint/ muscles/ ligaments/ etc. for this specific injury?)

▪ Statistics on your injury (ie. prevelance, types, recovery rates, other pertinent stats)

▪ Famous athletes who have incurred this injuries

▪ Future impacts on athletic performances related to your injury

▪ Treatment/Rehabilitation (outline basic treatment program, rehabilitation process, and timeline)

***Provide any images nesseccary to help aid your report***

3. Citations – MLA Formatted – see your citation generator for help (

▪ All sources (for both information & images) must be cited with MLA formatting

▪ Provide a 1-page Source/Reference page attached to your written report

▪ Appropriate academic sources must be used to gather information (ie. no wikipedia)
