Engine Break-in
Engine Break-in
The engine is ready for normal operation. Be extra
cautious during the first 100 hours.
1. Avoid unnecessary engine idling.If combine will be
idling longer than five minutes, stop the engine.
2. Watch coolant temperature gauge closely. If tem?
perature rises to green with white striped warning
zone, shift to a lower gear or reduce load. Unless
temperature quickly drops, stop engine and deter?
mine cause.
A-Black Zone
B-Green Zone
C-Green with White Stripes
D-Red Zone
3. Check engine oil and coolant levels frequently.
Watch for any signs of leaks.
4. Until you become thoroughly familiar with the sound
and feel of your new combine, be extra alert.
After 1 Hour of Operation Check Torque
on All Wheel Bolts:
Drive Wheels 300 ft-lbs (400 N¡¤m)
Steering Wheels 150 ft-lbs (203 N¡¤m)
Engine Oil Dipstick
Radiator Cap
After 5 Hours of Operation
Check all V-belts for initial stretch. Tighten as neces?
sary.Continue to check V-belts every few hours for the
first 50 hours. Check alternator belt and adjust if nec?
essary.
Torque the eight 3/4-inch machine bolts attaching
separator uprights to drive wheel axle:
Side Hill 6620 .............. 300 ft-lbs (407 N¡¤m)
6620, 7720 and 8820........200 ft-lbs (271 N¡¤m)
After 100 Hours of Operation
Drain crankcase oil, change filter, and refill. See lubri?
cation section. Repeat this procedure every 200 hours
or once a season, whichever occurs first.
Feeder House
Replacing Upper Belt
1. Pull out on bottom of shield, then remove.
2. Loosen nuts (A).
3. To loosen idler, hold nut (8) with a wrench and turn
adjusting bolt (C) until hole (E) moves down from
gauge (D).
A-Nuts

C-Adjusting Bolt
D-Gauge
E-Hole
4. When idler is loose remove cap screw (F) and
shield with sheave.
5. Remove belt.
6. Replace belt. See belt adjustment next page.
F-Cap Screw
Replacing Lower Belt
1. Loosen lock nut to back off tension on idler.
2. Lift up on lower tightener and slide lower belts out.
3. Replace belt.
