CCS Pre-season Track Meeting (called at 7:01pm)

CCS Pre-season Track Meeting (called at 7:01pm)

Oregon is ahead 11-9 (note: they loose 22-19)

1) Review of new rules:

Team warning for uniform/jewelry violation – applied to the whole team.

If an infraction occurs, the clerk/meet referee will notify the coach (even if the event must be held up) that a warning has happened for their team.

NOTE(1/11 @ 9:30am): There appears to be some confusion on whether this “warning” is for only jewelry or jewelry and uniforms. I have posed the question to Steve Filios (CCS) and when I hear back I will update these minutes.

NOTE (1/11 @ 5:00pm) from Steve Filios:

Dear Track & Field Committee….

I STAND CORRECTED….I apologize for an error I made in respect to new rules. I should have thought to check last night since I have access to the NFHS publications library, but in checking the new rule book today online, I see that the new “team warning” ONLY APPLIES TO JEWELRY. Any uniform violation remains the same as in the past – disqualification.

From the NFHS RULE BOOK:

PENALTY: (Arts. 1,2) For illegal uniform, the competitor is disqualified from

the event.

AND for Jewelry:

PENALTY: For the first violation, the competitor shall be required to remove

the jewelry before further competition, the team shall receive a team warning

and a subsequent violation by any team member shall result in disqualification

from the event. The referee shall be notified of the violation by the observing

meet official and he/she shall then notify the head coach of the offending

school of the violation and the team warning.

NOTE: The ultimate responsibility to have each competitor compliant with uniform and

jewelry rules is with the coach.

I am also attaching the three related pages from the rule book.

Steve

Calif does not currently have a seat on the National Rules Board.

CCS scoring will be 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 (same as State)

League alignments were reviewed (no changes)

CCS At-Large standards were reviewed.

CCS League Meet assignments were reviewed. They will be the same in 2011 as they were for 2010.

Will look at using a laser-measurement system for the shot put. There was some concern about it’s accuracy after two rounds.

CCS field events will follow the same model that the State Meet uses. If there is a change, we hope to know that before our qualifying meets begin (we are at the mercy of TV however).

The pole vault will be flipped at the CCS meet which means the girls will go first this year.

Only 11 coach passes are allowed at the CCS meet - TOTAL.

There might be a change that will allow 9 track athletes to advance to the finals if there are 9 lanes available. This has not yet passed (and doesn’t look like it will be passed). This only applies to track events where there are 9 lanes available and field events (not the 1600 and/or 3200).

League Coaches: Please review not only the SCVAL by-laws but the CCS By-Laws and Constitution as well as the CIF By-Laws. Know the rules.

Starting in Fall 2010, the Participation Bulletins will be e-mailed (we are going green).

SCVAL – If we had the PV at League Championships, and scored, we would get the 5/6 automatic entries. Otherwise, the vaulters have to hit the CCS qualifier mark.

List of all sanctioned invites & the League Finals by date. If there are updates to this list, please mail to Steve Filios.

CCS Trials: Field @ 9:30, Track @ 11:00

CCS Finals: Field @ 4:00, Track @ 6:00
