It is foundational to a study of Geometry or Algebra 2. You must be careful to complete each lesson without using a calculator unless specific directions are given. Please carefully label and date each assignment. When you do your assignments at home, please fold your paper lengthwise and complete your assignment on the left side only. (You can write on the back also.) You must complete it in pencil and show all of your work. Please have it graded “for correctness only” the first time through. Mark incorrect problems in red. Then make all of your corrections in red on the right side of the paper without consulting the solutions manual. Any problems that are still incorrect should be reworked at the end of your assignment in blue or black ink with the help of your manual. Please consult Guidelines for completing math coursework. You will need to keep all of your lessons in a 3-ring binder. Your notebook should be organized by date and should include all of your class notes, practice exercises, returned homework and completed tests. You will turn your work into me in a pocket folder or notebook divider.Tests will be given at the end of each chapter. They may be completed at home any time before the due date, but must be taken during one sitting, without the help of another person, your notes, a calculator or text. They should be turned in to me in a sealed envelope. When you come to class, you must be prepared with your supplies, assignments, and a signed assignment sheet. Be on time and in your seat at the scheduled time and begin the warm-up activity immediately. Place your homework and checklist out to be checked. Our time is limited, so we will need to begin promptly and remain on task. You should refrain from any activities that would distract from the learning environment. You should not need to leave your seat unless called upon. Use the restroom between classes;Use a self-collecting sharpener during class; Hold your trash until you exit the room. Horseplay, sidebar conversations, and put-downs will not be tolerated. Everyone will be expected to participate in class discussions and occasional demonstrations, so we must be respectful of others at all times. Making mistakes is part of the learning process, so we will encourage each other to “give it a try” in a safe setting. Your grade will be determined as follows:Corrected Homework – 40%Tests – 60%I look forward to working with you and your family in the upcoming year, and I know that together we can have a productive one. Please let me know of any questions or concerns you have or that may arise. I have read the course syllabus and will abide by the requirements of Mrs. Rait. (Please sign and bring to class with you on the first day.)______________________________________ Student signature______________________________________Parent signature______________________________________Date ................
