Dear Travis ECHS Program Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in the Early College High School program at William B. Travis High School in Austin ISD! We are looking forward to adding new students to our talented cohort of exceptional ECHS students. By exceptional we mean students with academic and career goals, students who want to learn and explore new ideas, who desire to attend college, and see education as their path to success. This application packet is for students seeking to begin the Travis ECHS program in the Fall of 2021. To be eligible, the student must be in the 8th or 9th grade. (Please note: Students in the 10th, 11th and 12th grades are no longer eligible to apply for the ECHS program but may be able to participate in Dual Credit courses. Please speak to your counselor about this.)

Your completed application will help us get to know you as a candidate for the program and determine how we can support you. This year due to COVID-19 and remote learning, Travis ECHS applications must be submitted online by going to: ourprograms/echs/application. You may also scan the QR code on the cover page of this packet or on the next page, for direct access to the online application form.

On the next pages you will find the application instructions and a preview of every section of the application. Review carefully so you can be prepared when you start filling out the online form. Remember, all of the required information must be submitted before we can begin to process and review your application. Spaces are limited, so be sure to submit your application by the deadline: Wednesday, March 31, 2021.

ECHS Application Instructions: This is a list of the various parts of the application. Make sure

to read through and get prepared with the information needed before you begin filling out the online application.

1. Personal/Demographic Information (REQUIRED): Please make sure that all information provided is correct, including email addresses, phone numbers and mailing addresses. If you are not currently an AISD student, please indicate your current school and student ID number. Your parent/guardian must sign this form.

2. Short-Answer Questions (REQUIRED): Respond to each of the following questions. Make sure your response for each question includes at least two paragraphs of 4-5 complete sentences each (a total of 8-10 sentences per response).

Question 1: Why is ECHS the right choice for you and what do you hope to accomplish during your time in this program?

Question 2: Write about a challenge that you have overcome in your life. Describe what you learned from that experience.

Question 3: Our society is built upon many freedoms: freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom of speech, etc. Which freedom do you think is most important to society's advancement? Explain why you think this way.

3. Teacher Input Form (REQUIRED): Ask at least one teacher to complete a Teacher Input Form for you (a maximum of two are accepted). This year, due to COVID-19 and remote learning, teachers must submit their forms online at: ourprograms/echs/application, or they may scan the QR code on the Teacher Input Form attached to this packet for direct access to the online form.

3. Additional Documentation (OPTIONAL): To better introduce yourself, you may choose to submit any or all of the following items. This part is completely optional. You do NOT have to submit any additional documentation. The online application will allow you to upload jpeg, png or pdf format files. Estamos ansiosos de poder a?adir nuevos estudiantes a nuestro talentoso y excepcional grupo de estudiantes ECHS. Instrucciones para llenar la solicitud del programa ECHS: Esta es una lista de las distintas

partes de la solicitud. Aseg?rate de leer bien todo y prepararte con la informaci?n necesaria antes de empezar a llenar la solicitud

3. Hoja de aportaci?n del maestro (REQUERIDO): P?dele a por lo menos un maestro/a que complete la Hoja de aportaci?n del maestro (se aceptan un m?ximo de dos). Este a?o debido al COVID-19 y al aprendizaje remoto, los maestros deben someter esta forma por internet en: our-programs/echs/application, o pueden escanear el c?digo QR en la Hoja de aportaci?n del maestro que se encuentra en este paquete para acceder la forma directamente.

3. Documentos Adicionales (OPCIONAL): Para introducirte mejor, puedes someter cualquiera, o todos, de los siguientes documentos. Esta parte es completamente opcional.
