From the Board of Directors…..!

A proposed budget will be send out by email by Monday, November 11th. An Open Forum and Budget Vote will be held on November 21st from 7:30am-8:30am in the Director’s office. We will need 10% of the membership to stop by and vote to approve or reject the new budget.  If we do not get the 10% required, we will have to schedule another meeting to vote again for the budget. If you have any questions after seeing the proposed budget, please contact any of the Board Members. We appreciate your involvement!

Fall Festival was a success, in spite of the rain! Thank you for coming and we hope that the addition of a silent auction has brought a fun way to add back to the MCDC community. We appreciate those who participated in our fundraising efforts. For those who would still like to help out MCDC, please take a look at the Giving Tree bulletin board (left side when you come in). Each apple is a “wish list” item and feel free to take one or two. Any small task/contribution makes a big difference for our center!

With the holidays coming up, if you order via Amazon, please do order via Amazon Smile and add MCDC as your charity. It’s such an easy (and free!) way to contribute back to MCDC.

From the Director….!

November starts a very busy holiday season! Be sure to mark your calendars so you do not miss out on any of the fun activities planned! Please let me know if you have any questions!

• Our annual Thanksgiving Lunch will be held on Thursday November 21st at 11:00am. MCDC will provide Turkey, Drinks and Paper Products. We ask families to sign up for side dishes and desserts. There is a signup sheet available on the front desk right as you walk in. Please indicate how many ADULTS will be in attendance and what you plan on bringing. Friends and family are welcome! We do not have the capacity to store any cold items or heat any items that you will be bringing. Please either bring your items with you when you arrive, or have something to keep them cold or hot. Please also provide serving utensils. You may pick up your dishes as soon as the luncheon is over. The children will be served lunch from the kitchen as they normally are and will be eating in the classrooms. Please do not go into the classrooms before visiting the cafeteria to fix your plate. Please first fix your plate and then join your child in their classrooms. Creeper parents: as your children are usually asleep during this time, we will have several tables set up in the multi-purpose room for you. We would still like you to join us for lunch! Please use the medical center parking lot for overflow parking during this event. Do not park on the curb or in the grass. Please let me know if you have any questions!

• Melissa Tash with Spoiled Rotten Photography will be at our center November 13th-15th to take timeless portraits of the children. There will be an email sent out with instructions to sign up and a description of the back drop. There is no fee to sign up. Sibling pictures are also available. After sign-ups are over, we will let you know what day your child will be photographed. If you have any conflicts with the days of the portraits, please let me know now before the schedule is set. We do ask that parents not be present for the portraits. We will change your child into the outfit they have for pictures if you would like. If you have any specific instructions (way you would like their hair, keep shoes on, special prop, etc) please leave a written note. Do not tell the teachers the morning of, we must have instructions in writing. There is no obligation to buy, so I highly recommend taking advantage of this opportunity. If you have not signed up yet, you will need to do so by the 6th. The link to sign up is

Hello from (Infant A)

We are saying goodbye to one of our little turkeys who is moving up to the creeper class. We have some fun art days planned in November. We will be making turkeys and exploring paint on the table. On November 11th and 28th the center will be closed for holidays. November 21st, we will have our annual Thanksgiving Luncheon. Please come out and enjoy some good food and time with your little one. Please remember to bring in several changes of clothing that are weather appropriate to keep at school. Also, remember to sign your child in and out daily, to help us keep up with attendance. Thank you!

The Beautiful Babies (Infant B)

Greetings from the beautiful babies. We are still awaiting fall yall. With the cooler weather, this offers more time for physical activities outside. Physical development is an essential part of the total development of children. Developing physically includes using large and small muscles, coordinating movements, and using senses. Large development includes strengthening and coordinating the muscles, coordinating the muscles and nervous system, controlling large motions using the arms, legs, torso, or whole body. Small-motor development involves the ability to control and coordinate small-specialized motions using the eyes, mouth, hands, and feet. Young infants (birth through 8 months), begin all learning through physical movement, taste, touch, smell, sight, and sounds. By moving their arms, hands, legs, and other body parts, by touching and being touched, infants develop an awareness of their ability to move and interact with the environment. By using their mouth to explore, hands to reach and grasp, whole bodies to roll over and sit up they master the necessary skills needed for developmental stages. Mobile infants (9-17 months), delight in practicing and achieving new physical skills like crawling, standing, sitting down, cruising, and walking. They interact with their environment in a practical way using all senses to examine and manipulate objects, and begin to understand cause and effect, space and distance in this way.

Have a great month!

Underwater Explorers (EB)

“Replacing battery operated or single function toys with open ended, problem solving, role-playing and age appropriate toys, will encourage children to use their imaginations, leaving them free to control the play. Items such as spoons, cups, bowls, and balls for babies and blocks, pieces of material, cardboard boxes, play kitchens, dress ups, tea sets and train sets for toddlers are so multidimensional that they leave a child’s imagination free to create and explore. This helps build the child’s confidence in their ability to play and thus allows them to become more independent ().”

Reminders:

• Sign your child in and out at each day (with legible first/last name).

• Check your child’s cubbies daily for weather appropriate clothes, artwork, or any other paperwork

• Bring in a family snap shot.

Important Dates:

• Nov. 11th-Closed for Veteran’s Day

Reasons to schedule a conference:

1. Because you want to

2. When you are ready to begin formal potty training (with cloth underwear)

3. When you want to know more about your child’s developmental progress.

4. When your child is transitioning out of the classroom (REQUIRED)

The Perky Preschoolers (Pre-C)

It was so much fun seeing all our preschoolers with their Halloween costumes. The children had a great time.

We would like to thank all the parents for the fall décor for the classroom and a pumpkin patch field trip, which was a huge success. We really appreciate it. Thank you again!

As Thanksgiving approaches, we would like all of you to know how thankful we are to have you as part of our MCDC family! It is a joy to work with your children and to be in partnership with you as they learn and grow.

With the colder weather, quickly approaching your child should be sure to bring a jacket or sweater to school. Please mark the inside tag with your child’s name or initials.

Can your child put on his or her jacket? We will be teaching the children to place their jacket on the floor, lining side up, with the collar closet to the child, and then slip their arms into the sleeves, raise their hands, and presto, the jacket magically slides down the arms and over bent shoulders into place. Your help with training in the “set up” is the key to success and before too long; children will be able to set it up by themselves. The smile of independence and pride on the child’s face is enough to melt your heart.

Our themes and letters this month are “Xx”, “Yy”, & “Zz”, Turkeys, Giving Thanks, Fruits/Vegetables, and Shapes.

We look forward to a great month and look forward to having parents join us in celebrating Thanksgiving at the Luncheon.

Some of you may be traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday; if so, we hope that you will have a safe trip to and from your destination.

The days are getting shorter and it is starting to feel cooler outside. Please check your child’s cubby box for the appropriate change of clothes. All children should have a change of clothes in case of an accident. They should also have a lightweight jacket.

The Annual Holiday program is approaching quickly. We will start practicing for this program and will pass out more information later.

We are also scheduling Parent/Teacher conferences the 1st week in this month (Nov. 4ththru Nov. 8th), during the hours of 12:30 thru 2:30. A sign–up sheet is on the Sign-in/Sign-out shelf.
