MHF4U - Exam Summary
The exam is out of 90 marks and is worth 30% of your final grade.
There will be 10 multiple choice questions and 5 fill in the blanks; 30 marks. The remainder of the exam will be full solutions; 60 marks. The unit breakdown is as follows:
Introduction to Functions - 6 marks
• evaluating IROC/AROC, transformations (effects of k, d, a and c), intervals increasing/decreasing
Polynomials - 18 marks
• Properties of polynomials (# of turning points etc), remainder theorem, evaluate IROC/AROC and interpret answer, dividing polynomials, sketch a polynomial
Rationals – 23 marks
• asymptotes of rational functions, create a rational function with given criteria, evaluate using a given rational function, graph and state features of a rational function
Trigonometry - 23 marks
• determining exact values of trig ratio (memorize special triangles), using compound angle formula, solving a trig equation for angle(s), convert between radians and degrees, prove an identity, solve trig equations with multiple solutions, graph sinusoidal
Logarithms and Exponentials - 16 marks
• Inverse of logarithmic or exponential function, solving logarithmic equations, evaluating log expressions, solve exponential equation, application with logarithmic function
Solve an inequality (polynomial or rational) – 4 marks
