So you want to take a train from Vladivostok to Moscow? Some tourist companies will let you do just that! It’s a long trip—9,280 km or 5,780 mi to be exact—but it’s a beautiful one. You’ll see the deepest lake on earth, mighty rivers, mountain passes, and remote villages.

Here is an itinerary a travel agency might provide for your adventure:

Day 1: Vladivostok

Meet at the Vladivostok airport, and transfer to the hotel for a group dinner.

Day 2: Vladivostok

Take a sightseeing tour of the city and Golden Horn harbor. Visit landmarks and two museums, then go to dinner and out to the theatre. Board the Trans-Siberian Express at midnight to travel to the next town.

Day 3: Khabarovsk

Arrive in Khabarovsk in early morning. After breakfast, explore the provincial capital city. Walk the banks of the Amur and Ussuri Rivers. After lunch we will take a cruise on the Amur River and visit an art gallery and museum. Then back to the hotel for dinner and a folk concert.

Day 4: Taiga

After breakfast drive through the Taiga to see villages and an animal rehabilitation center. There you will see tigers, bears, leopards, and other native animals. After lunch go for a swim in a nearby lake and return to the hotel for dinner and a concert.

Day 5: On the train

After breakfast the train leaves for Irkutsk. There will be frequent stops so you can photograph the beautiful rivers and mountain passes.

Day 6: On the train

Another beautiful day of viewing as the train travels along the shore of Baikal, a gorgeous sight to behold.

Day 7: Irkutsk

Arrive in Irkutsk in the afternoon and transfer to the hotel. After a nap, see all that the city has to offer in terms of history and architecture. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: Lake Baikal

After breakfast drive to Lake Baikal and take a walking tour on the shore of this natural wonder of the world. This crystal clear pool is the deepest lake in the world and contains 20% of the world’s fresh water. There will be a cruise and an opportunity to explore this ecological wonder by kayak. Also visit the charming lakeside village of Listvyanka before heading back to the hotel.

Day 9: Irkutsk

After breakfast head back to Irkutsk and visit St. Nicholas Church, stately homes of exiled Russian noblemen, and a museum. There will also be time for shopping. Leave for Novosibirsk in the afternoon.

Day 10: On the train

Another day of picturesque travel on the train. Arrive in Novosibirsk in the early evening for dinner at the hotel.

Day 11: Novosibirsk

After breakfast it is time for a city tour of the third largest city in Russia. Visit a museum and attend a performance by the world-renowned ballet.

Day 12: Kolvyan Siberian Village

Travel 50 km to Kolvyan Siberian Village to visit a museum and cathedral. On the way back have a leisurely picnic in a forest meadow. In the evening depart for Moscow.

Day 13: On the train

Today travel through the great Siberian plains to beautiful mountains and the border into Europe.

Day 14: On the train

Travel today to Yaroslavl and past the beautiful Monastery of Trinity and Sergiy and the beautiful ancient Russian city of Vladimir. Arrive in Moscow in the early evening.

Day 15: Moscow

Tour the city of Moscow with visits to theatres, galleries, and museums.

Day 16: Moscow

More exploring in Moscow, including a trip to the Kremlin.

Day 17: Departure

After a trip like this, it will be hard to leave. But the adventure has come to an end and so it is time to return home, until the beauties of Russia entice you to return. We will gladly transfer you to the airport for your departure flight.
