Tucson’s Innovative Bike HAWK - Living Streets Alliance

Tucson's Innovative Bike HAWK

A man waves as he uses a HAWK light to cross a 6-lane roadway. The HAWK (High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk) was designed by Dr. Richard Nassi of Tucson. The HAWK is included in the MUTCD as an effective street crossing treatment.

A bike HAWK allows bicyclists to activate the light without dismounting. This is a new Bike HAWK feature.

Additional Bicycle Crossings

These two bicycle signals help cyclists cross busy roads on 3rd Street, the most popular bike route in Tucson.
