The Events Calendar is a useful tool for staff and a great resource for employers and job seekers. Any staff member with the calendar permission can create events, and the information can either be broadcast to a wide audience or limited to individual groups, such as employers, job seekers, or staff. Frequent use of the Events Calendar will keep users informed and engaged.

A variety of events can be effectively publicized using the Events Calendar:

Job Fairs – Add a Job Fair to the Events Calendar to alert staff of an upcoming opportunity. A Job Fair event creates several promotional options for staff: a) spread the news to customers while working with them throughout the day, b) send job fair notices to job seekers using the Send Job Fair Notice function on the Events – Current page, and c) add another Job Fair event for employers, which allows staff to recruit new employers and/or remind previously committed employers to attend. In this way, information is dispersed to as many users as possible.

Employer Interviews – Add an upcoming Interview event to the Events Calendar to advertise interviews scheduled with a specific employer or with multiple employers. While notices cannot be sent to job seekers, the event is posted on their home page. By frequently listing these events, job seekers and employers will quickly grasp the benefit of consulting their calendar regularly.

Workshops/Orientation - Many workforce centers hold workshops for employers and/or workshops and orientation sessions for job seekers. When workshops and/or orientations are added to a center’s Events Calendar, the information is broadcast to every member of the target audience assigned to that office. When users are aware of scheduled events, they can plan, and there’s a better chance staff will see good turnouts at their events.

Calendar of Events – Calendars in the form of flyers are generally available to walk-in customers. But in this age of electronic information, posting all events to the WorkInTexas Events Calendar makes a lot of sense. In addition to catching the attention of regular customers, events and information added to the Events Calendar can reach all customers assigned to an office, even those who rarely visit one.

Reminders – Since the Events Calendar is located on the home page, maintaining a current list of events serves as a convenient reminder for all users. For example, add an event that reminds employers to notify staff when they hire a job seeker, or add a reminder to job seekers to notify staff when they go to work. If employers and job seekers see these reminders every time they logon, perhaps they will remember to notify staff when the time comes.

Finally, by maintaining the WorkInTexas Events Calendar with current events and information, your customers will be more informed, their awareness of current events will be increased, their enthusiasm for center events heightened, and staff may see a measureable surge in event attendance and productive communication.
