Use pages 46-53 in your atlas to determine one way of categorizing the regions within the United States and pages 36-39 for the rivers and other bodies of water.

I. Label every state using the correct two letter abbreviation. EX: Texas = TX

II. Identify regions: Color and use your key to show the name of the regions.

a. Color the Northeast region purple.

b. Color the Mid-Atlantic region yellow.

c. Color the South orange.

d. Color the Midwest red.

e. Color the Great Plains green.

f. Color the Southwest brown. (lightly)

g. Color the Rocky Mountains region gray. (lightly)

h. Color the Pacific region pink.

III. Label the following bodies of water:

a. Gulf of Mexico

b. Pacific Ocean

c. Atlantic Ocean

d. Hudson River

e. Potomac River

f. Tennessee River

g. Mississippi River

h. Rio Grande River

i. Colorado River (not the one in TX)

j. Snake River

k. Missouri River

l. Ohio River

m. Great Salt Lake

n. Lake Okeechobee

o. Great Lakes (Label each individually.)

IV. Must use map rules and TODALS

For your key:

a. Use a colored square to show the color of the regions and name the regions.

b. DO NOT put all the state abbreviations.

c. Include water and river.

V. Economics

a. For each region, list what are major economic activities.

1. You may list these on the back according to region.

Or

2. List with bullets the major economic activities around each region on the front of the map.
