Two Sentence Stories - The Cave

They are exactly what the name says, a story told in two, well-crafted sentences!

Easy enough, right? Well, maybe not... Sometimes they may come easy, sometimes

you may need to start with a longer story, and whittle it down to only two sentences.

Using hyphens and semi-colons and brackets and all kinds of punctuation craziness it is possible to write a massively long two sentence story (kind of like how this sentence is quite long (long as in nested brackets (which are quite fun))) ? and you can do this if you like.

My general rule is I'll be counting full stops. There should be only two.

I knew you were clever the moment you came in. Yes, it is possible to write a two sentence story and then give it an incredibly clever title which serves as a third sentence or a comment on the story or a twist or whatever.

I don't care if you do this but try not to make the titles longer than a few words. There is no hard and fast rule on it and if it's cool then I'll let it go.

Evelyn discovered why rooms came available so often six months after being moved to the nursing home. It happened the night she rolled her wheelchair to the cafeteria for a late night snack, and saw her name on the menu sheet.

I texted my daughter to ask her exactly where I was supposed to pick her up. Just as I hit "send" she bounced off my hood, crashed through my windshield and landed lifeless in my lap.

Bessie, my white-faced golden retriever, trotted over to greet me with a smile and a wagging tail as she always does. She's the best dog I've ever had, and I only wish I was still alive so I could give her the belly rub she so rightfully deserves.

I met her going eighty in a sixty five; she paced me through the deserts of eastern Arizona for 20 miles, I made her laugh. We got married two years later at mile marker 258.

I'm not pretty, I've never been pretty, and I'm pretty sure it's not getting better. He's not handsome either though, and that made me feel comfortable, so I said, "Yes".

The lock was broken on the hideaway, sitting on the ground outside. We looked at each other wondering if we should go inside, or turn and run.

My fake I.D. got me in the door. My fake I.D. got me pregnant.

My ex-husband told me that he would steal my heart again. It now sits in a jar on his nightstand.

I was dancing in the studio alone, practicing Wendy's part for our upcoming school play, when the music suddenly stopped. I was about to fix the sound system when I noticed that a dark shadow continued to dance just beside my reflection in the mirror, which surely wasn't Peter Pan's.

Write ONE, two sentence story for FOUR of the following genres:

Horror Comedy Sci-Fi Romance Action Historical Crime Drama

Then write ONE, two sentence story for the novel you are reading.
