• SPI: Perform drills on sentences and paragraphs from straight copy, script, and rough-draft to develop speed.

I. Objective(s):

1. Students will label the correct proofreading mark for an error on a hard document with 80% accuracy.

II. Materials Needed: Proofreader Marks Notes, Microsoft Office 2010, Assignment sheet, Document Camera, Smartboard, Century 21 Computer Applications and Keyboarding textbooks, Jack and Jill Practice

III. Set:

Talk about Labor Day weekend. Mrs. Whaley will incorrectly type something about her weekend and see if the students respond. She will then lead into proofreading marks.

IV. Lesson Presentations:

Notes will provided on smartboard for proofreader’s marks. Mrs. Whaley will demonstrate how to draw corrections. Then, students will come draw corrections.

Practice: Provided the Jack and Jill poem typed with numerous mistakes, the students will correct them using the proper proofreading mark. Students will then think, pair, share with another student to come up with all errors and correct marks.

V. Closure:

Assessment:

Proofreading quiz tomorrow. Students will have to label correct marks and then correct

VII. Assignments:

Students will type all of Lesson 11 in the textbook. It has paragraphs keyed incorrectly with proofreader’s marks. Students will then type the paragraphs correctly.

VIII. Accommodations/Reteach:

If we finish the lesson early today, we will play a relay game of Olympic typing for a little competition among rows and to improve speed.[pic]
