NEW TEACHERS 20-21Carrie Gutierrez- World LanguagesI am teaching Spanish 3 and 4H.I graduated from UGA and moved to Bogota, Colombia where I taught English for 2 years. I returned to Georgia and taught Spanish 1-5 on level and honors with Fulton Schools for 5 years at Riverwood and 12 at Northview. My husband's job took us to Schenectady, NY for 4 years where I also taught Spanish. I am so happy to be back in Georgia and grateful to be teaching at Chattahoochee HS.Joshua Taylor-English Language ArtsHello! My name is Joshua Taylor and I will be teaching 9th?grade Literature! I earned my Bachelor’s in English at Georgia College & State University and my MAT in English Education at the University of Georgia. While I may be new to Fulton County Schools, this will be my fourth year as an educator! I believe that we never stop learning and that every day is an opportunity to grow. I have been a Special Education teacher with Fulton County Schools for more than ten years, in Community Based Instruction at local schools and as a job coach in the L.I.F.E.@Verizon program. Prior to pursuing a career in education, I worked in New York City as a commodities broker. I have a BA in History from New Jersey City University and earned my teaching certificate through the SETWEB program at the University of Georgia. I have two kids ages 13 and 10 and two dogs. I’m a veteran of the US Navy. I love being outside, hiking and coaching sports. ?I coach baseball and football. I am an Atlanta native and attended the University of Mississippi, the University of Georgia, and received my Master’s degree from Georgia State University this summer. Dogs, travelling, and the outdoors are three of my favorite things. I also enjoy tennis, helping others cook (I just don’t have the magic touch, I guess; I can’t cook minute rice without the rice being crunchy), and research. Lawrence went to Georgia State to get his Master of Arts, Teaching degree, which he received in May 2020. He is a history and politics buff. I am originally from Kentucky, where I earned my bachelor’s in education and Special Education, as well as my Masters in Leadership. A couple years into teaching, I decided to follow my (twin) sister to beautiful and sunny California. It was a fun and adventurous 5 years there, but I am so happy to be back, closer to my home and my family. I feel honored to be part of the Hooch community and I can’t wait to see what this year brings!Brandon Harton-IRR GeometryI am Brandon Harton, and I am currently an IRR teacher in Geometry in my first year teaching here at Chattahoochee, and it is my sixth year teaching. I graduated from the University of Georgia in 2013, and I was also a member of the UGA Football team in my time on campus. Prior to coming to Chattahoochee, I worked at Central Gwinnett for four years as an IRR Geometry teacher, and Oconee County High for two years as a paraprofessional the first year and IRR teacher in a co-teaching role in my second year. I have also been a coach during my time as a paraprofessional and teacher. I’ve coached Varsity football as a running backs coach, and I am currently in my third year as an offensive coordinator and second coaching quarterbacks.
