It is the University’s expectation that you will read the information, comply with the directives outline here and ask questions should you have any.You are required to isolate (separate yourself) from other people because you have been diagnosed as a confirmed case of infection with 2019 Novel (new) Coronavirus (COVID-19) or because you had a high-risk exposure to COVID-19 and now have symptoms. You are considered infectious and can spread COVID-19 to people around you and make them sick. For this reason, you cannot stay in your assigned on-campus residence, instead designated isolation housing will be provided for you. You must remain in isolation until the UMass Amherst Public Health Team tells you can leave your isolation residence. For most patients, this period of required isolation will last approximately 10 days, but may be longer if your symptoms persist. The UMass Amherst Public Health Promotion Center will support you during isolation and will follow you through wellness calls or your symptom monitoring reports you submit in the health hub. You are expected to be responsive to their calls. Please save their number (413- 577-8888) to ensure you answer their call and can call them back if you miss a call. Please note that during periods of high numbers of cases and contacts, our team will prioritize notifications and calls to symptomatic cases. If you develop any concerning symptoms please call the Public Health Nurses - (413) 577-5498 daily 8am – 8 pm or the UHS COVID hotline at (413)577-5128 Monday through Friday 9am – 5pm or Saturday and Sunday 11am – 5pm.[If you reside on campus]You are required to temporarily relocate to designated campus isolation housing as directed by the Public Health Team or you may go to off-campus housing i.e. family home, if it is feasible and safe for you to do. While in isolation you may only leave your room to use the bathroom, attend to medical needs. You must use face covering and practice social distance at all times if you are outside of the room. You may only return to your residence hall room assignment with the approval of the Public Health Team after a period of 10 days.If you reside off-campus and are coming onto campus quarantine accommodations]You have agreed to isolate in on-campus facilities. While in isolation you may only leave the room to attend to medical needs. You must use face covering and practice social distance at all times you are outside of the room. You may only check out of the room with the approval of the Public Health Team after a period of 10 days or if you move to safe off-campus housing. While you are in isolation you should follow these instructions: Do not leave your designated isolation housing, except for medical emergencies.
