The 2015 Canada Winter Games at UNBC

Between February 13 and March 1, Prince George will play host to thousands of athletes, officials, family members, entertainers, and media, making it the largest multi-sport and cultural event to be held in the city and region. UNBC is proud to be an Official Community Partner of the 2015 Canada Winter Games, and host to several exciting Games events. The Northern Sport Centre will showcase more sporting events than any other venue, and the Closing Ceremonies will take place at UNBC's Agora Courtyard.

Events on Campus

THURSDAY FEBRUARY 12 Sport Ministers Breakfast Administration Atrium | 7:30am-9am | Ticketed Event The Administration Atrium Level 1 will be used to host a breakfast event on Thursday February 12th. Please access the 2nd and 3rd levels via the elevator at the basement level.

Canada Winter Games Welcome Reception Student Services Street/Bentley Centre | 7pm-9pm | Ticketed Event Student Services Street and the Bentley Centre will be closed for the welcome reception at 5:30pm until 9:30pm.

SUNDAY MARCH 1 Canada Winter Games Closing Ceremonies Agora Courtyard | 4pm-5:30pm | Ticketed Event UNBC will host the Closing Ceremonies outside in the Agora Courtyard. All classrooms, lecture theatres, and meeting rooms on campus will be utilized by Athletes, Volunteers, Cast, and Production Crew. The campus will have fewer access points due to the accreditation requirements at various locations. Please refer to the Canada Winter Games Campus Map for the indicated alternate routes and entrances for non-accredited staff, students and faculty. The event will be broadcast live on TSN 1, 3, 4, 5, and athletes, coaches, officials, VIPs, and Gold Medal Pass Holders from across Canada will take in the spectacle.

Canada Winter Games Closing Ceremonies Reception Administration Atrium | 2:30pm-3:45pm | Ticketed Event Access to the Administration Atrium on Level 1 will be limited to those who have tickets and proper accreditation. Please access the 2nd and 3rd levels of the Administration Building via the elevator at the basement level.

Dining Hall

Discovery Centre

The dining hall will be open as usual for all students currently on a meal plan. If you wish to dine on campus, please visit unbc.ca/ food-services. On Sunday March 1, all meal plan members must enter the Campus at the Conference Centre/Bus Loop to access the Dining Hall.

Northern Sport Centre

Friday February 13 to Sunday March 1 The Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre is a multi-sport facility that will host archery, judo, squash, gymnastics and badminton during the Games. Parking

Regular parking policies and procedures will be in effect at Parking Lots A, B, C, the Residence Lot, the Childcare Centre, and the Administration Building Parking Lot throughout the Canada Winter Games.

During the Closing Ceremonies on Sunday March 1, there will be no charge for parking. However, you can expect traffic pattern changes to occur.Please follow directions from traffic control to direct you to the correct route.

Limited parking will be available at the Northern Sports Centre as most lots have been designated for use by the Canada Winter Games sporting events.Northern Sports Centre Members with valid parking passes may also park at the Main Campus in Lots A or B during this time.

MONDAY FEBRUARY 16 TO FRIDAY FEBRUARY 20 & MONDAY FEBRUARY 23 TO FRIDAY FEBRUARY 27 Main Floor - Geoffrey R. Weller Library 10am-6pm | FREE Event The UNBC Discovery Centre will provide an opportunity for parents, students, youth, and visitors to explore knowledge and research at UNBC. It will feature fun, interactive, handson activities, tours of academic and research facilities, light refreshments and more. Get a personalized look at the exploration and discovery that happens in laboratories and classrooms at UNBC.

Public Transit

On Sunday March 1, please enter at the Conference Centre/Bus Loop to access the Dining Hall and the Administration Building.

The Administration Building Level 1 will be a restricted area for those with proper accreditation only. Please access the 2nd and 3rd levels via the elevator at the basement level.

On Thursday February 12, Student Services Street and the Bentley Centre will be closed at 5:30pm-9:30pm. Please access the classrooms in the Library Building via the Geoffrey R. Weller Library. Buildings 4, 8, 9, and 10 can be accessed via exterior entrances.

On Sunday March 1, all students, staff, and faculty will enter campus at the North end of the Teaching and Learning Centre Atrium (Building 10).

Level 1 of the Teaching Laboratory, Bentley Centre, and Student Services Street will be a restricted area for those with proper accreditation only. Please access the upper levels of these buildings via the North elevator in the Teaching and Learning Centre (Building 10).
