Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) 2018-2020

Summer Internship Recruitment Process at IIM Bangalore

The Post Graduate Programme (PGP) curriculum at IIM Bangalore requires all students to undertake a summer project for a minimum duration of 8 weeks on completing their first year course work. Students with more than 34 months of prior work experience have the option of opting out of the Summer Internship Placement Process (SIPP) by formally signing out of the process. Successful completion of the Summer Internship is an essential requirement for graduation from the PGP Programme at IIM Bangalore.

The Summer Internship recruitment process at the Institute is coordinated by Career Development Services Office along with a Student Placement Committee. The Institute provides all support in terms of infrastructure and facilities needed for the recruitment process.

Pre-Placement Talks (PPTs)

PPTs provide an opportunity to students and companies to interact and exchange information. A PPT is typically of 45 minutes duration during which company representatives talk about their organization. The students use this time to assess the organization and internship opportunities. A Q&A session also forms part of the PPT.

Students Applications

Based on the company presentation and their individual interest levels, students apply to companies. These can be on company application forms or resumes as per company requirements. The applications are forwarded to the company within a specified time frame. The companies are provided sufficient time to evaluate the applications and shortlist suitable candidates.

Shortlists

Companies are required to send shortlists to the Placement Committee at least one week prior to the commencement of Summer Internship Placement Interviews. When the companies visit the campus, they can interview the shortlisted candidates and extend internship offers to selected ones.

Interview and Offer Letters

Companies can make summer internship offers after the interviews. A formal offer letter must be sent to the CDS office within a week of the interview date.

Summer Internship Dates

Summer Internship recruitment dates-23rd October 2018 to 28th October 2018.

For the academic year 2018-2020 the students will be interning with companies between 1st April 2019 to 31st May 2019 for a minimum duration of 8 weeks.

Summer Internship Evaluation Report (SIER)

Since the internship is a part of PGP Curriculum the company is required to provide student evaluation and feedback on a prescribed form provided by IIMB. Completed form should reach the CDS office by the prescribed deadline.

Student Career Support Fee

We encourage organizations to make Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs) to the student at the end of Summer Internship process.As per IIMB Placement Policy all PPOs remain valid till the respective company's slot during Lateral/Final Placement. When the PPOs are accepted by the student as his/her final placement offer and the student joins the organization, a recruitment fee, as detailed below, will be charged to the concerned organization:
