Also, she’s a bit like Eva, but rich, showing injustice,Dramatic irony helps us to see that Sheila is intelligent enough to understand Eric’s involvement. It also makes us feel like we are most similar to her if we guess too.She is also a clear contrast to her mother in age and kindness.Audiences would know women had a crucial role in the war and probably support Sheila standing up to her father & fiancé Mrs Birling doesn’t change at all and retains her capitalist views. She is selfish and dislikeable so audiences see her as someone to be different from.“gross impertinence” light or childish connotations contrast to the brutal act of refusing to help.“Blame the young man” – dramatic irony as it’s EricAudiences were increasingly aware of the value of social support (the NHS was soon to be introduced) through the beginning of the welfare state, so would be particularly shocked by this refusal of help.Edna is almost always present on stage but doesn’t have a voice to remind the audience of life for those in povertyBarely speaks (no voice) ................
