TOUR THE HAUNTED JOHN WORNALL HOUSE THIS OCTOBER DURING AN ANNUAL GHOST TOUR

(Kansas City, Missouri)— Often regarded as one of the most haunted locations in the Kansas City metro area, the John Wornall House Museum’s tumultuous and violent history has left an indelible mark on the home. Each year, the Wornall/Majors House Museums offers Ghost Tours and Paranormal Investigations that explore the history of the home and the family that lived there, as well as some of the many ghostly apparitions said to remain in the house. These tours will take place on the evenings of October 21, 22, 28, 29, and 31. The Wornall/Majors House Museums is a nonprofit organization that preserves and interprets the historic John Wornall and Alexander Majors Houses.

One-hour Ghost Tours take guests through the Wornall House, where they will learn about the Wornall family, the homes’ use as a field hospital during the Battle of Westport, and stories of unexplained happenings in the house. The evening will also include two special presentations: a Civil War medical demonstration from the Western Bluecoats Field Hospital of Civil War Reenactors, and a dramatic presentation of Edgar Allan Poe from the Heart of America Shakespeare Festival.

“A Ghost Tour at the Wornall House is the perfect way to celebrate the Halloween season,” said Sarah Bader-King, Director of Public Programming & Events. “Guests will hear some unexpected stories, get an after-hours tour though the house, and maybe even leave with an experience of their own.”

Ghost Tours leave every 15 minutes from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on October 21, 22, 28, and 29. Tours are $15 per person and can be purchased online at ghosttours or by calling 816-444-1858. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy a pre-tour snack and hot beverage.

In addition to guided Ghost Tours, the Wornall House also offers Paranormal Investigations for those who want a unique, hands-on experience to do their own ghost hunting. Investigations are led by professional investigators who are familiar with the house and its history. ELITE Paranormal will lead Friday night investigations, and Mystic Moms will lead Saturday investigations.

Paranormal Investigations are available from 10-11:45 p.m. or 12:15-2:00 a.m. on October 21, 22, 28, 29, and 31. Investigations are $50 per person and can be reserved online at ghosttours or by calling 816-444-1858. Advance registration required.

All proceeds go towards the historic preservation of the John Wornall and Alexander Majors Houses and local historical education in Kansas City.
