Students will study sequence, linear, polynomial, and exponential functions, logarithmic functions, and the graphs that correspond to them, transformations, growth, and decay models; explore data through statistical graphs, measures of central tendency, lines of best fit; learn how to factor, solve radicals, and understand complex numbers, trigonometric functions; and use graphing calculators to solve problems. This class focuses on the mathematics portion of the Minnesota Academic Standards. These standards ask students to show higher order thinking skills and understanding of key mathematical concepts. The Minnesota Academic Standards for years 9-11 include the strands (1) Algebra (2) Geometry and Measurement (3) Data Analysis and Probability. The primary purpose of grading is to communicate the academic achievement status of students to students, their families, employers, and post-secondary institutions. Due date is when the assignment is expected to be completed. Deadline is when the assignment has to be turned in for some credit. a. All Summative Tests must be finished during the time provided in the class or immediately after school.b. Summative Assessments (excluding tests/certain in-class assessments) turned in after the due date and by the deadline may be lowered no more than one letter. If a student completesthe work after the deadline, a grade of 50% is assigned provided that the basic requirements of the task/assessment are met. c. Homework is due on the specific date stated in class. Late formative assessment work will be accepted at 50% credit. With an excused absence, it is required that the student turn in the work no later than 3 days after the student returns. Extra Credit: There is no “Extra Credit” offered in this class. There will be opportunities for extra assignments and further deeper investigations. However, there is no extra credit to be offered in lieu of an assessment or assignment. Re-Learning and Retakes: There will be a list of available times when a student can have the option for retakes.Quizzes and Tests can be retaken. The final grade, of that assessment, will be determined by the average of the original score and the score of the retake for that assessment. There are NO- retakes onQuarter or Semester FinalsGrading modifications may be made for students with IEP or 504 plans. ................
