CHURCH COUNCIL MEETING
Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017
at 12:15 p.m.
90 YEARS OF
WYNNTON MEMORIES
In our 81st year as Wynnton United Methodist Church, with Mike Ricker continuing in his position as Senior Pastor, 2008 began with a District Training Leadership Conference led by Adam Ricker from Epworth by the Sea. This took place on January 12, in our church building, with all of the Columbus District invited.
On February 22 & 23 of the same year, Bruce Marchiano, led us on a “Journey Through the Heart of Jesus Christ”. Bruce portrays Jesus in several Bible films one of which is “Gospel of Matthew”. We worshiped on Friday night, had Saturday morning breakfast and workshops and completed our worship on Saturday night.
In June of 2008, we were blessed with the appointment of the Rickers and the Averas to Wynnton for another year. We had a “Welcome Back” Luncheon after church on Sunday, Aug. 12, and each family was asked to contribute to the school supplies for our PIE school, Wynnton Arts Academy. Through the years we have continuously worked with the academy to help in any way beneficial to their children.
In June, 2010, Reverend Frank Parr and his wife, Beth, were assigned to Wynnton. They had served the Columbus District in the past at St. Luke, but were coming to us from Savannah. We said our “Good-byes” to Mike and Cindy, who would be serving in Savannah as Senior Pastor of Isle of Hope and our “Welcomes” to Frank and Beth.
A new Pastorate would begin.
