The Staff Development Unit, Human Resources Management Service, Division for Management (SDU/HRMS/DM), UNODC at Vienna is seeking a consultant to promote career development within United Nations organizations in Vienna through delivery of a range of Career Support workshops, to conduct individual career coaching sessions for all interested staff members, and to help staff members to identify their transferable skills in support of mobility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Delivery of one-day Career Support workshops and “Mini-workshops” on topics, such as “Preparing a Personal History Profile (PHP)”; “Preparing for an Interview”; “Career Connections”; “Giving and Receiving Feedback”; “Career Transitions - Making Change Work”; “Managing Difficult Conversations”;

- Individual coaching sessions: Understand UN Mobility policy and be available to coach staff members individually for help with preparing their Personal History Profiles, assisting with mock interviews, helping them to identify their transferable skills, coaching them on how to network to proactively look for other potential opportunities; discuss career options and work/life issues and self marketing strategies, etc.;

- Proactive approach to other related activities: Identify clients’ needs and develop appropriate solutions, keep clients informed of progress, and establish and maintain productive partnerships with clients;

- Be available to assist with activities related to the re-launch of the Career Resource Learning Centre, as required;

- Market Career Support workshops within departments by working with managers to identify career-related issues within their teams such as looking at ways to enrich current jobs, identifying transferable skills that need to be developed to facilitate mobility/career shifts, identifying challenging and skill-building work assignments;

- Through direct marketing to managers, identify possibilities for working with intact teams to ensure common understanding of career building strategies such as setting SMART goals as a tool to support the evaluation process of the appraisal cycle, challenging on-going developmental assignments, giving ongoing feedback, providing coaching, etc.);

- Build partnerships within UN system and the private sector to be knowledgeable about job profiles and opportunities;

keep abreast of trends and patterns within and outside of UN system.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

University degree in human resources, business, management, education, social science or a relevant combination of academic qualification and extensive experience in human resources management or related area. MBTI certification is desirable.

At least five years of experience in planning and administering training courses in a large international organization or in a United Nations organization. Strong facilitation skills with solid experience in career counselling and coaching

Further to course delivery, training experience should also include planning, developing, organizing and evaluating staff development courses, seminars, and workshops.

Oral and written fluency in English. Proficiency in French and/or another UN official language an advantage.
