|CHILD SAFEGUARDING: Level 1: the post holder will not have contact with children and/or young people, or access to personal data about |

|children or young people, as part of their work; therefore, a police check will not be mandatory for this post unless the content of the post|

|changes, in which case the Child Safeguarding level should be reviewed. |

|ROLE PURPOSE: Save the Children’s Geneva Advocacy Office works to create positive and lasting change for children by ensuring that key child |

|rights, health and humanitarian concerns are taken into account in global policies and processes and that States are held to account for |

|their commitments to children. |

| |

|The intern will support the Geneva Advocacy Office team in engaging with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations (UN)|

|Human Rights Council, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs |

|(OCHA), the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the World Health Organization |

|(WHO), as well as Permanent Missions, multi-stakeholder partnerships and civil society actors. |

|This internship is a training opportunity for students only. |

|SCOPE OF ROLE: |

|KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY : |

| |

|Duties will include: |

| |

|• Support Save the Children’s advocacy staff in planning and implementing advocacy strategies on priority child rights, health, humanitarian |

|and migration issues; |

|• Attending and reporting on relevant internal and external meetings in Geneva, including, amongst others, meetings of the Human Rights |

|Council, IOM, OHCHR, OCHA, UNHCR and WHO; |

|• Support the organization and logistics of advocacy meetings, side-events and panel discussions; |

|• Support with internal communications and social media; |

|• Provide logistical support for staff travel and venue arrangements, hospitality and accreditation for conferences, events, workshops and |

|attend when required; |

|• Develop, maintain and update information databases (such as contact lists of permanent missions, UN agencies and civil society) and carry |

|out dissemination of reports, as relevant; and |

|• Other administrative tasks as appropriate within a small office, such as obtaining quotes, monitoring and ordering supplies, data inputting|

|and handling incoming inquiries. |

|QUALIFICATIONS |

|Student enrolled in ongoing Master’s level studies in a relevant field, in particular international humanitarian and human rights law, global|

|health and/or international relations. |

|EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS |

|An understanding of the advocacy/policy environment of the UN and other international organizations in Geneva, particularly the Human Rights |

|Council, IOM, OCHA, OHCHR, UNHCR and/or WHO. |

|A proven ability to work in a professional manner in a multilingual, multifaceted, international setting with limited supervision and a |

|willingness to learn new skills. |

|Commitment to Save the Children’s values. |

|Highly organized and able to anticipate needs. |

|Strong sense of responsibility coupled with teamwork skills. |

|Excellent spoken and written communication skills. |

|Fluency in English and French (spoken and written), Spanish or another UN language is an asset. |

|Computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and social media. |

|Resident in Switzerland with a valid Swiss work permit and right to work in an intern role (student enrolled in a Swiss university). |

|Terms and Conditions |

|• Part-time (80%) for 6 months, beginning in January 2018 (start date to be agreed). |

|• The Advocacy intern will be paid a stipend of CHF 1’000 per month pro rata rising to CHF 2,000 per month pro rata after successful |

|completion of three months in the role. |

|within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience. |
