TEACH Research introduces talented CSP students to the basics of clinical research through a classroom experience and an opportunity to work with a team of researchers including faculty, medical students, and undergraduate students on the Hospitalist Project. Our research has shown TEACH to be effective for students who already possess an initial interest in health research careers but was not that effective in generating interest. TEACH STRIVES is the next phase of this research study focusing on crowd sourcing and digital media to try to generate student’s interest before they enter pipeline programs. Being in the first year of this grant, the project is in a phase of planning logistics, coordinating partners, and setting up the program for its launch in summer 2014.Project Location (please note where the RA/Intern will be working): Billings Hospital, The Center for Health and Social Sciences (2nd floor, W corridor)Project TimelinesDesired Start Date: as soon as possible.Hours Per Week:10 hours a weekTotal Hours: 100 hoursResponsibilities and QualificationsResearch Assistant Responsibilities: Please list the duties the student will fulfill. It is important that you are able to provide a valuable learning experience for the student. The student in this research assistantship will gain experience and knowledge with many aspects of administering a large research project, including study design, data collection, and analysis. Student will learn about the use of random assignment, sampling strategies in real-time (Experience Sampling Method), and the use of video-based interviews. In addition, the student will also gain experience in all aspects of grant administration, including grant writing, budget preparation, preparing progress reports, and fundraising. Lastly, the GPHAP student will also gain valuable experience in forming partnerships in community-based research.If available in Spring 2014, the research assistant will assist in securing proper institutional review approval, preparing materials, conducting recruitment, gathering initial baseline data, and planning both the research and control arms of the study. If joining in Summer 2014, the research assistant will help with the coordination and execution of the summer program. Activities include data management, organizing lectures, chaperoning field trips, and helping track necessary reimbursements. RA Qualifications: Preferred qualifications include initiative, organizational skills, likes working with children, an interest in educational programs, and familiarity with digital media. ................
