The Illinois State University Foundation Fellowship is an award of two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500) to 3 doctoral and 3 masters level students who have demonstrated a potential for academic excellence at the graduate level. Applications will be accepted from new graduate students applying for or admitted to a degree program in the Graduate School who will be attending on a full-time basis. Successful applicants must have been admitted to the degree program by the Foundation Fellowship's application deadline of March 15, and not have begun work as a graduate student at Illinois State. Applicants must have attained a cumulative grade point average of 3.6 on a 4.0 scale on previous undergraduate and graduate course work. A selection committee appointed by the Graduate School and approved by the Graduate Council shall make the award decisions. Receipt of this award may impact other financial aid that a student receives. Awards will be announced by April 15.

Section 2. Supporting Materials a. Personal Statement. Applicants submit one statement of no more than 250 words addressing qualifications of

academic excellence, including, but not limited to, academic accomplishments, awards, honors and extracurricular activities.

b. Letters of Reference. Three letters of reference must be received in the Graduate School no later than March 15. The applicant is responsible for ensuring that the recommendation letters are received on time.

The letters must be sent by the referees directly to, dddavid@ilstu.edu, with the subject line: FOUNDATION FELLOWSHIP REVIEW.

All letters must address your potential as a graduate student. Name of each person from whom letters of recommendation have been requested.

Note: OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS AND STANDARDIZED TEST SCORES already submitted to Illinois State will be secured by

the Selection Committee. Applicants do not need to submit copies of those documents. Applicants must submit official transcripts

of any graduate work or standardized graduate school test scores that are not already on file here.
