NHS is sponsoring a Sock Drive for K-12 students of Griggsville-Perry School District. NHS will provide a small Christmas tree close to the Griggsville building Nurse’s office to centralize sock donations and inspire further donations. We are asking teachers to help inform parents and students of the need for new socks and are seeking donations. We will advertise through the announcements, Web site, School Newsletter and newspapers of our Sock Drive. We also ask teachers to keep an eye out for students with a need for a pair of socks, especially as cold weather gears up. Ruth Anne Liehr will be the ‘Keeper of the Socks’ for distribution at both buildings. If you have a need she will know what is available and can help fill any requests. What remains of the socks at the end of the year will be donated to the Bargain Bonanza for the following school year, allowing us to run another Winter Drive. A box will be made available for donations, and NHS students are going to tie a colored ribbon to each pair displaying them on the tree. Once the tree is too full we will store the rest in the nurse’s office. If enough are gathered, we can also consider giving a pair to the Christmas family children. The tree will be erected on November 1, and be ready for donations. Please help NHS make this a worthy and effective cause. We will take any suggestions you might have toward future Community Service projects.
