There are many pages and links included in the classroom that will be covered in this manual. Classroom OverviewStep One: Log on to The University of Phoenix Student Website at Step Two: Enter Username, then password, and click Login.Step Three: Choose the appropriate class and click on the title to access the classroom.Class Home The first page that a student will access is The Class Home Page. Along the top of the screen you will find links to the following:HomeClassroomLibraryProgramAccountPhoenixConnectCareersThese links provide additional information and resources to assist the students in the completion of their classes, degrees, and eventually, their careers. Each individual link will be covered in greater detail in later sections of the manual.Once the student has logged into the ecampus website and selected the appropriate classroom, they will be directed to the Class Home page. Along the top (below the links listed above) are the Weekly and Full Syllabus Tabs which will be discussed in the next section. Below that is a box that is titled, “To Do This Week” and is the starting point at the beginning of each class/each week. The private messages to your instructor as well as the messages to the class as a whole can be accessed here. Additionally, this section shows how many messages have yet to be viewed and in which forums they are located. Private messages are created and posted in the same way as any other message in any other thread. The difference here is that only the student who created it and the instructor can see what the messages contain. This is a great way for students to ask the instructor for clarification on grades or to discuss team or classmate issues while maintaining anonymity. Class messages are also accessed from this location and can be initiated by the student of instructor alike. Many times the instructor will set up a thread in this section for the students’ week specific questions. There are also occasions where the student may want to keep a topic going beyond the week it was introduced. The Class message center is a great place for this as it does not change week to week.Weekly Tabs/Full SyllabusInclude assignment accessibilityClass Activity/My ActivityInstructor Announcements/PoliciesCourse ProgressClass Roster/Learning TeamsAcademic ResourcesCourse Software includes any additional computer software or program that the student will need to complete their courses. These can include programs like Virtual Desktop, Visio, and Skillsoft. Some courses require the student to purchase subscriptions to software programs for the duration of that class. Often these programs will be needed for future classes as well.Virtual Organizations are used by students for essays, proposals, service requests, and other assignments. This website contains the fictitious information for 12 separate companies. There are internet and intranet pages for each of the companies as well as a list of service requests that a course may require the student to address. Course textbooks are often included with each class and are accessible via the learning activities. Instructors often assign a few chapters each week for the student to read. Discussion questions, participation posts, and assignments often utilize the information in these chapters. Certain courses require the student to purchase additional textbooks or materials. The University of Phoenix has provided a website to assist students in acquiring these materials at a reasonable or sometimes discounted price.Links across the top of the PageHomeMain page where students access their classesClassroomThe online discussion forum described in the manual above.LibraryWhere students can access books, articles, the Center for Writing Excellence (CWE), the Center for Math Excellence (CME), and tutorials and guides for writing and formatting papers and essays.ProgramThis link contains the student’s grades, completed credits, upcoming courses, and links to services offered by the University.AccountContains students account information.PhoenixConnectA place where students can “Discover, Engage, Achieve” and expand their network.CareersCareer Guidance System to assist graduates in obtaining employment.ConclusionAppendix AThis is an excerpt from the current classroom with a link at the bottom to the complete file.
