Purpose

The University of Phoenix Pre-Evaluated Prior Learning List is a repository of industry licenses and certifications that have been pre-evaluated for credit through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA).

Credit recommendations listed are a recommendation, not a guarantee.

Application of credits to a student's program may vary as a result of program requirements, credit deficiencies, and/or the current policies of Prior Learning Assessment or the University of Phoenix and its subsidiaries.

If your course/training/license is not listed, it may still be eligible for credit. You may submit it and have an evaluation performed to determine if it is eligible for credit. Students may do so by following the PLA submission process on the student portal.

How to Use

Search the document for any credentials (certifications or licenses) you may have.

If the search results identify a credential you possess was previously evaluated, it means your credential may be eligible for PLA credit towards your degree.

You may submit your documentations to the PLA team for review on your student portal.

In some cases, PLA credit can be used to waive out of required coursework in select programs. A waiver request form must be submitted if you are seeking to waive a UOPX required course. The certificate must be within 10 years of current enrollment agreement sign date for most programs. Some programs have additional requirements. Please contact your academic counselor for program specifics and limitations.

Requirements

Appropriate documentation must be provided and received while within the evaluation process to be eligible to receive the credits recommended. Please see the PLA website or the specific training provider to determine the documentation requirements.

Official documentation will be required to obtain PLA credit, including but not limited to: - Proof of completion - Proof of training/certification hours - Proof of Modality (instructor led or self-paced)

Only coursework submitted from the indicated training provider will be eligible to receive the credit recommendations below. All others will require official proof of completion and official proof of hours and will be subject to evaluation per PLA policy.

No pre-licensure or pre-certification coursework will be accepted unless otherwise indicated under a specific training provider/section of the guide.

Continuing Education coursework may be submitted for additional credit unless otherwise indicated under a specific training provider/section of the guide

Credit awarded based on the recommendations in this guide will appear on the student's transcript using the course code PEL/299 or PEL/399.

Duplication - when this word is used, it means that an item on the pre-evaluated list duplicates the content of another course or item. PLA will not award credit for certifications or coursework that duplicates the content of credits earned through PLA, transfer credit, or University of Phoenix coursework. As such, if duplication occurs, the credit award will be reduced.

Several nationally recognized and industry accepted certifications may be used to waive certain IS&T degree courses or may be used to fulfill deficient general education or elective credits. Students must submit a valid copy of the certificate and the appropriate waiver form. Please contact your academic counselor for assistance with the process.
