HOUSING

F Apply for housing

The housing application opens on Feb. 15. Access the housing application through my.sc.edu. The application deadline is May 15.

UofSC requires first-year students to live on campus. We find that students experience a stronger sense of community, better access to resources and more opportunities for personal and academic growth.

F Consider your housing options

When applying for housing, you will have the option to choose a Living and Learning Community (LLC) or Carolina General Housing.

LLCs provide unique environments that bring together students of similar interests. Before completing the housing application, learn more about our faculty-led and residential LLCs. You'll choose your preferred communities in your housing application, and then answer a short series of questions about your choices. Carolina General Housing is a collection of residence halls/rooms that do not include LLCs.

Note: If you are a part of a special university program, review the housing options specific to those programs. More information can be found on sc.edu/housing.

F Explore our residence halls

We offer traditional, suite, apartment style and affiliated apartment style residence halls. Each hall has its own unique history, set of traditions, personality and opportunities for its residents. Take a look inside each hall on our housing website. Styles and pricing vary, so be sure to review all the options before selecting the hall that best meets your needs.

Rev. 1/11/2021

F Include medical and special requests on the housing application (if applicable)

If you have special housing requests, review the housing accommodations section of the application. You must meet all the requirements listed on the application to be considered for specific accommodations. You must also register any housing accommodations with the Student Disability Resource Center in order to process the request.

F Review your housing assignment

You will be assigned to a Living and Learning Community or Carolina General Housing on a rolling basis after Feb. 15. Consideration for your housing assignment is based on the date of application to University Housing.

F Select your roommate

The roommate matching section of the application will be made available starting in mid-March, once you receive a building or community assignment. All roommate matching is completed in the Roommate Matching Portal on my.sc.edu. You must have a community acceptance to access the Roommate Matching Portal. Once in the portal, you will only be able to select roommates from those students living in your assigned LLC or residence hall.

F Choose your room

Students who apply before May 15 will be allowed to choose their room if selected for an LLC, or a building and room if assigned to Carolina General Housing during a designated date and time. This information will be available in the housing portal on my.sc.edu once your building assignment is posted. Dates and times will vary by building and community.

F Get ready to call Carolina home!

One of the most memorable days of your college experience is move-in day. Learn everything you need to know about packing, loading, unloading, unpacking and setting up your room on sc.edu/housing.

REGISTRAR

F Submit your Citizenship Verification Form

Log on to your UofSC Admissions Portal to check if your status was previously verified based on information provided on your FAFSA. If you have not submitted a FAFSA, you will be required to complete the Citizenship Verification Form.

If your citizenship has not been verified, complete the Citizenship Verification Form. Visit sc.edu/registrar for more information on the Citizenship Verification Form.

F Review the academic calendar

To view the academic calendar for the 2021-2022 year, visit sc.edu/registrar, select "Academic Calendars" from the left side menu and select "2021-22 Academic Calendar." This will show a full listing of important dates for the fall semester, beginning in August, through the following spring and summer semesters.

F Submit the S.C. Residency Certification Form (for S.C. residents only)

Students claiming South Carolina residency for tuition purposes are required to verify residency. Log on to your UofSC Admissions Portal to check if your South Carolina residency has been verified. If you have not submitted a FAFSA, you will be required to complete the form.

If your residency has not been verified, complete the S.C. Residency Certification Form through your portal. Visit sc.edu/registrar for more information on the residency certification process.

F Review information about veterans and military services (if applicable)
