Call to order: 9:00 a.m. (Parliamentary Process)

Minutes and Agenda (Parliamentary)

I. Adoption of minutes from December 6th, 2013 meeting (pink handout)

A motion was made to approve the minutes; it was seconded and approved unanimously.

II. Approval of the agenda

A motion was made to approve the agenda; it was seconded and approved unanimously

III. Introductions

Introductions were made of those in attendance.

Reports

Teacher Grant presentation (Kirk Mathias)

1. Level I data have been coming in now since the beginning of the year with over 600 teachers filling out the surveys.

2. Level II has 40 teachers that are now in week 22 of their survey period.

3. Level III is gearing up to go out and conduct interviews of the Level II teachers.

4. An analysis report of the data will be coming out around the end of June.

5. Cece’s recommendation to take a look at the 8 Criteria/Constructional Frameworks for teacher evaluation to see where that fits with the data will be addressed once the analysis has been completed.

edTPA (Ginni Erion)

1. Responses to recommendations made at December 6th, 2013 meeting

a. Recommendation (Tobi): There needs to be a “jumpstart” like program for students before they go through the edTPA.

i. RESPONSE: More and more of the classes are embedding edTPA activities

b. Recommendation (Ginni): Every student will have a clinical experience prior to student teaching and during that final clinical experience they do a practice edTPA.

i. RESPONSE: will have clinical presentations (response was part of Keith’s presentation)

c. Ginni will be providing edTPA test results/rubrics, etc. at the June 13th meeting.

i. Ginni’s recommendation is going to be no 1’s

PEAB Vacancies for 2013-2014

1. Recruitment of WEA member in process

I. New Business:

1. Program overview of Teaching Elementary, Adolescent and Young Children (TEACH)

a. Dr. Keith Salyer, Associate Professor, Department Chair

i. Area(s): Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle Level

1. RECOMMENDATION (Martha): Make personal visits to all education departments regarding the new program.

II. Upcoming Meetings:

1. Friday, June 13, 2014, 9:00-12:00pm, Black Hall/Rm 228-19 & Top Ten Reception

a. We will conduct the PEAB meeting in the morning, with the reception in the afternoon.

i. The meeting will take place at 9:00am in Black 228-19

ii. The Top Ten Student Teacher – Apple Award Ceremony will follow at 1:00pm in the Sue Dining Hall.

iii. The 2013-2014 Apple Award guest speaker is Jeff Charbonneau, National Teacher of the Year (Zillah High School).
