Meat Buyers
NELPSC is your one stop shop for meats raised locally on upstate New York family farms & processed in small, USDA inspected custom processing plants. Processing is done in limited quantities & each animal is tracked separately. NELPSC only works with processors that adhere to strict humane animal handling practices, track individual animals, and cuts to customer specifications.

NELPSC can source for you from our 102 farm members meat that is grass-fed, pasture raised or grain finished. All meat that NELPSC sells is naturally raised on small farms. Animals are free of added hormones and prophylactic antibiotics and are not fed animal by products. NELPSC supplies farmer affidavits which certify these sustainable production methods.

What do we offer?
• Farm raised beef, pork, lamb, chicken, turkey, venison, and elk – large & small quantities
• Farm raised ground beef & stew in large quantities
• Organ meats & bones
• Meats cut to your specifications
Since all products are fresh from the farm a lead time of 2 to 3 weeks is needed for beef and 1 to 2 weeks for lambs, hogs, and other meats.
Wholesale or large orders
NELPSC will:
• Secure orders & work with buyers to plan a mutually satisfying transaction
• Select livestock at the farm & arrange for live animal transportation to USDA custom processing plant
• Work with processor to schedule processing of selected cattle
• Processor slaughters, cuts, packs, labels and freezes the meat under USDA inspection, including HACCP, according to buyers specifications
• Provide in plant oversight of processing & packing of order
• Coordinate with receiving personnel to schedule delivery of product via a refrigerated truck
• Deliver the finished product along with necessary shipping documents
Additional Services
• Obtaining farmer affidavits & farm story
• Offer technical assistance – such as guidance on meat cuts
• Pricing includes delivery in a refrigerated truck
• Pays farmer a premium price for livestock, within 24 hours of slaughter, according to USDA Packers & Stockyards law
• One invoice per shipment regardless of the number of farms contributing to the order
• One person contact for ordering, questions or issues

Who are we?
The Northeast Livestock Processing Service Company (NELPSC) is a farmer owned & operated company born of a grassroots effort by the Hudson Mohawk Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council to address issues associated with meat processing and marketing. The development of the company is being made possible through funding and support from New York Farm Viability Institute, NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Rensselaer County Economic Development Office, David Rockefeller, Heifer Project International, and the Hudson Mohawk RC&D.
