PERSONAL MESSAGE FOR PARENTS FROM MME. DYCKDear parent(s)/guardian(s):Bonjour! I am your child’s Core French (FSL) 10 teacher this semester. Your child is expected to use only what is learned in class to communicate. This means that tools like Google Translate are useless. Until he/she gets a good grasp of the language, he/she is expected to communicate using the repetitive structures learned in class. Please take the time to read the outline carefully so that you know what your child will be focusing on this year in my class. In the case of absence, please contact the school at 604 581-4433. In the case of an unjustified absence and frequent lates, you will be contacted. There are tutorial times for your child which will be available throughout the semester. Those days and times will be communicated to your child by next week. Your child is expected to hand in completed homework and assignments at the beginning of class. Late assignments will not be marked without an attached late slip and parent/guardian signature.Your child will be learning the French language through authentic examples of Francophone culture such as maps, magazine articles, art, movies and books. He/she is expected to complete the required assignments in order to show an understanding and appreciation of the culture that speaks the language they are learning. I look forward to a great semester with your child. I have a website where I will be posting different activities and assignments, should you wish to check it out and see if your child is up-to-date in the class, you can do so at mmeknopp..
