FIRST RESPONDER
1. Determine responsiveness. Open airway. Consider airway adjunct if airway not maintainable by head positioning or a towel under the shoulders
2. Maintain spinal immobilization if injury suspected
3. High flow O2, assist ventilation with bag-mask ventilation and suction as necessary
4. Request ALS
EMT-BASIC
5. Juice, soda, milk or oral glucose if patient has gag reflex and in no danger of aspiration
6. Pulse oximeter
PARAMEDIC
7. Advanced airway if indicated
8. Cardiac monitor if indicated
9. Blood glucose check
10. IV/IO TKO. If signs of dehydration and/or hyperglycemia bolus 20ml/kg (10ml/kg in newborn) NS
a. Additional boluses of 20 cc/kg up to three total if signs of shock
