Constitutional Amendments Poster Project
Our next most dangerous mission will be to examine and interact with the 27 different amendments in the Constitution. You will accomplish this task by creating a poster based on your interpretations of the amendments and what they mean.
Rough Draft
1. To begin you will need to take an 8.5 by 11 inch piece of paper and fold it in half four times, the result should be a piece of paper with 16 evenly sized squares (front and back).
2. Go through and number (neatly in the corner of each square) 1 -– 32.
3. Square #1 will be the title “Constitutional Amendments”
4. Squares #2 - #6 will contain depictions of the five freedoms found in the 1st Amendment.
5. Squares #7 - #15 will contain the rest of the Bill of Rights.
6. Squares #16 - #32 will then contain the next 17 amendments to the Constitution.
****** Each square needs to contain the following ******
1. Title of Amendment (i.e. Amendment XII, 12th Amendment, etc.)
2. A description or summary of the amendment/right using your own
language.
**Language too similar to the Constitution will be considered
plagiarism and will be counted against you**
3. A picture or illustration that visualizes the concept of that right or amendment.
Final Draft
1. Once you have completed your rough draft you will then need to go get it approved by Mr. Findley
2. Once approved you will then transfer your ideas over to a full sheet of poster paper provided by the teacher (do not use your own poster paper).
3. Carefully you will have to figure out how you can transfer all of these ideas to ONE side of the poster paper (look to the samples for ideas).
4. Make sure that your squares are outlined in a heavy black marker and that all writing is also traced in something other then pencil.
5. Make sure all pictures are colored neatly.

GRADING GUIDELINES ON THE BACK…
You will be graded according to the following criteria:
I. Rough Draft (10 points)
- Did you complete a rough draft and get it approved?
II. Content (30 points)
- Were all 27 amendments included? (10points)
- Did you summarize all amendments thoughtfully and accurately? (10 points)
- Was there a picture or illustration for every amendment/right? (10 points)
III. Neatness and Readability (10 points)
- Was your handwriting legible?
- Was your poster carefully put together (clean lines/neatly gridded boxes)?
- Is your project free of unsightly errors (glue stains, etc.)
* YOU WILL NOT BE GRADED ON ARTISTIC ABILITY*
IV. Work Ethic (10 points)
- Did you display on-task behavior on a consistent basis?
- Did you do a good job of following directions?
- Did you utilize class time to work on this project?
To receive a grade for this project you will need to hold on to this handout and then turn it in (paper clipped) with your poster.
