To receive service credit, complete Section I and place in your Orientation folder; County HR will verify then credit you with the applicable service credit. State to Local (previously employed by State of North Carolina)If you have an active State Retirement Account, you may transfer yourprior service to Mecklenburg County and receive service credit withMecklenburg County (for retirement service, vacation accrual and longevity.) To receive service credit, complete Section I and place in your Orientation folder; request a copy of the Retirement Form 5-TR; complete that form(follow directions);when transfer is completed by the Retirement System, notify County HR (Benefits); Benefits will verify the information and credit you with the applicable service credit. SECTION 3.**Sick Leave Credit (only for active retirement accounts)To transfer up to 96 hours (12 days) of earned, unpaid sick leave, you must obtain a letter from your prior employer stating your name, Social Security #, hire date, termination date, and number of earned, unpaid sick hours.
