Welcome to Moscow Mountain Sport and Physical Therapy

Welcome to Moscow Mountain Sport and Physical Therapy. We want to make sure you have a meaningful and education experience during your time with us. Please a moment to review general information below about our clinic and our expectations of our volunteer/observing students while you are here.

Parking:

• Please park in the back of the parking lot, we like to keep all the parking spots in front of the entrance for patients.

Dress Code:

• You are required to wear your name tag that identifies you as an observation student at all times. If you lose your name tag, please let one of us know so that we can replace it.

• Dress during your observation is “business casual”.

o Please no pants with holes, dirty shoes or low cut shirts/pants.

o No open-toed shoes / sandals.

• Nice blue jeans are allowed on Fridays ONLY, however, no jeans with holes.

Observation Times:

• You will be given times to observe at our clinic based on availability. Please observe only during your scheduled time.

• If you have a planned absence please let us know ahead of time so that we may schedule another student during your time slot.

• We understand that the requirements to apply to Physical Therapy programs can exceed 100 hours, however, due to the high number of requests for observation n hours we cannot guarantee this amount of time. We will do our best to accommodate your needs, but we also recommend broadening your observation experience by getting hours in a variety of settings.

General:

• Please respect the privacy of our patients. Ask if you have any questions on the confidentiality contract that you must sign.

• You will not be assigned to a specific therapist and are welcome to observe with all therapists, however, please ask before you join their treatment session as some patients are sensitive to new people. Don’t be afraid to ask any of the therapists to observe.

• Please ask questions appropriately. If you feel it may be a sensitive issue please wait until after the treatment is done and speak with the therapist one on one.

• We understand that many of you have personal experiences with therapy, however, please refrain from discussing personal stories about injuries/rehab in front of patients. The patient’s injury/rehab is our primary concern.

• Many students have additional training (personal trainer, athletic training, etc), but you may not dispense any medical advice to a patient. If you have any comments, please discuss it with the therapist at a later time.

• Record you observation hours and notes on the observation log provided, at the end of your time make a copy of your log for your own records.
